    MP / PIE Formula

    I couldn't find it in the forums already , so I'm posting the results of my own testing here

    MP = (PIE * 7.57) + 1530 for SCH
    MP = (PIE * 7.90) + 1596 for WHM
    MP = (PIE * 8.23) + 1662 for BLM
    MP will round to the nearest whole number

    Common knowledge that MP Regen is 6% per tick out of combat and 2% in combat.
    Regen will always round down though, so if your 2% = 86.99, you're regen will just be 86

    Party Bonus for having a scholar in your party will be 3% of your PIE, always rounded down

    I at least doubled checked myself after reading this, and realized I meant to write 3% not 4% for the party bonus.
    As for it being 2.83%, I can say "Not possible, but I'll go ahead and do some more tests with this in mind"
    Ran tests on my scholar using 399 and 400 PIE as base, then joined a party.

    Expected result----------------------------------------- Actual Result:
    399 * 1.0283 = 410.2917 -------------------------------410
    400 * 1.0283 = 411.32 ---------------------------------412

    My conclusion: It's 3%. But maybe the party bonus multiplier is different based on your job/class. I'll do some more testing.

    I believe that calling your choco will put you in a party for the bonus but I'm not 100%. I know when I'm on SCH and call my choco the little PIE lights up in the party frame.

    Correct, or at least not 2.83%, regardless... As BLM Ive been looking around for formula for this (wondering how SCH piety bonus effects the party). To get the 251PIE tier for a 5 fire rotation, you need 244PIE (adding the 7PIE from SCH bonus puts you at 251). Seems to be fairly common knowledge for BLM. If it was a 2.83% boost, with 244PIE you would only receive 6.9052 extra PIE, and (unless it's somehow rounded up) you wouldn't hit the 251 tier. At 3% you get a 7.32 boost, making your PIE 251.32 (rounded down as you said) to 251. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks for the bump. I spent some time today working on the BLM formula, and came up with:
    MP = 1662 + (PIE * 8.23)

    Honestly, I was really surprised (but not concerned) that BLM had a higher multiplier than either healing class.

    Do you have any idea what the SMN multiplier is.

    Using your SCH formula I get the following

    Actual Piety Additional Total from formula
    3012 214 1619.98 3149.98

    Assuming the same base value as SCH the multiplier should be ~6.92523. It is possible that the base is different for SMN but it shares the same class as SCH so I would expect it to be the same.

    Also where are you getting your base values from?

    Looking at the HP formula found http://valk.dancing-mad.com/tables/attribute-table/ (scroll to the bottom) I'd think there is an overall formula.
    For reference HP = Base HP + (14.5 x (VIT – 202))
    And Base HP is 85*(class/job mod)

    I'm calculating the base values myself, working backwards after I've already calculated the MP per PIE.
    These formulas do also assume that you're calculating for a level 50 character.
    I'm sure there's probably a more correct, more complicated formula than mine for calculating MP, but mine seem to work and I don't care enough to look further into it.
    If anything I'm probably oversimplifying it by using a larger base MP and not using some kind of (PIE - 90) in a similar way that Valk uses (VIT - 202) for HP calculations. Difference being that the 14.5 HP/VIT doesn't seem to apply to the first 202 VIT a player has. Otherwise every character would have 2929 HP minimum at level 50. And this is easily seen to not be the case.
    There probably IS a job multiplier though. After figuring out the BLM Base MP I noticed it was 66 MP higher than WHM, which was 66 higher than SCH. I may revisit this later on.
