Would be cool if they expanded the exploration log in the future to involve new zones that are built to be dangerous and explored with friends. Doesn't necessarily need to be good loot off the mobs or anything, just an adventure to complete your log and defeat the threats of a wild zone!

I don't think any of this will change. If anything, we'll just get more new areas down the line for the sake of exploration with the harder stuff regulated to more primals and coils. As a few people here had said, throwing up dangerous mobs all over the world map for the sake of punishing players that aren't prepared or careful would make the beginning of every new character or class switch an even bigger grind regulated to one area or having the chat boxes spammed with people asking for help.

It's already bad enough that the fan base is heavily divided on the way the Zodiac weapons were handled, but doing something like throwing overpowered mobs on the world map just to challenge the end game players would make a massive storm all over.

a lot of casuals play hard games in their free time. Why do people mix up casual with whiny 5 year olds?
Casuals want challenge in their free time, not mindless easy grinds.
And if a casual doesnt want challenge he/she watches a movie

I agree with the OP and others too. Something else I liked about older MMOs was you had to find peopel to play the game. It made the servers we were on more sociable and had you care about your reputation.

There are no end game zones right now just low level areas so dropping a dangerous monster in a zone just for lvl 50s to challenge is a horrible idea. I think OP and others are looking at older MMOs through nostalgic eyes which make them see them as better then they actually were. The actual problem is modern MMORPG will never recapture the glory of past MMORPG's because players are already familiar with dangerous zones and super hard mobs that can kill them so instead of it adding a sense of adventure it becomes a tedious yawn feast.

I think it will be difficult to bring back that sense of adventure because of how the genre has evolved. Death has no serious repercussions nowadays. A player doesnt have to worry about ever losing his gear. No need to get back to your corpse before it de-spawns or before someone else grabs it.

In some past MMOs there were places you did not go alone. Not because of mobs but because of other players. There was safety in numbers and it made those games more social. I'd like to see more of that type stuff but I think the majority would find it too stressful.

Also, if you play to "unusual" times (due to night shift etc.), you might find yourself in a situation where it would simply be impossible to find the players needed. SE partially mitigated the problem in fates (in some fates, NPC "fill up" the missing players), but there is no optimal solution to this problem.

I don't understand why everything has to be easy just so that crafters could wonder freely?

It seems like an odd reason to make the entire field seem lifeless. Doing content where this would actually be the main diffyculty to overcome seems like a wasted opportunity.

Imagine a fishing spot that has agressive lvl 50 monsters on patrol routes.
You'd have to either ninja-fish solo while keeping an eye for incoming danger or hire a mercenary to cover your ass while you work.

Now imagine what you could do to combine something like gathering and angry bees. In 1.0 you could run ALL the way through black shroud with aggroed bees hot on your tail relentlessly chasing you...

I already said it in another thread:
Eorzea (the open world) is a beautiful world! Beautiful but boring.

Some places should be dangerous. Even for lvl 50 players.
Garlean Strongholds for example: Facerolling through enemies that
are supposed to be one of the biggest threats to Eorzea? ...thats just ridiculous.

I think it would be cool to add strong enemies with weather. Give them increased gil drops or vanity drops.

What I think would be fun would be, say you're in the jungle around Wineport. Heavy rain starts, which causes some kind of plant monsters to spawn that are level 50 in clusters with a few single ones dispersed, and they're very strong. Once the rain subsides, the monsters go back to whence they came. Ideally these monsters would be strong enough to take you down pretty quickly, and you'd be left with the decision to call people in to help you get the rewards, or if you're lower level/solo you just have to escape. Of course with the weather being the trigger it gives people time to group up, or lower leveled players time to leave. Obviously areas would vary with weather and monsters but it would add a random sense of survival, and with the added weather they could really give you the "ominous storm clouds rolling in" kind of feeling.
