This 90000 thing needs to STOP

For the love of Sultana, please fix your servers guys!
Summary of the last few days:

Sunday: I'm in totorak, my DPS and healers keep disconnecting. I do a guild hest, healer DCs and everyone gives up and abandons.

Monday: Friends go to do Leviathan ex. Tank DCs, we wipe. Second try, healer DCs we wipe. Leader gives up because everyone is dc'ing.

Wednesday: It's raid day for my group. I'm standing in Uldah - 90000. 30 min later we go into coil, everything ok, we wipe. While we are stoneskinning, I 90000. We play a few more times, wipe again - I 90000. Our raid ends, I'm sitting in my house in limsa about to craft some foods - I 90000 and just give up for the night.

Please FIX THE SERVERS. I know you're all at E3, and I'm excited for all the announcements but the game has been unplayable nearly all week!

Hello, please check out the internet health report to see where some of the connectivity issues in the vast interwebs are taking place.

Basically the numbers in the boxes are ping times. Bigger is bad. The color is packet loss, anything above 0 is bad for gaming. Together, they equal 90k and terrible lag. Yay! I believe SE's provider is routed through the "Level 3" infrastructure. That should help you figure out what's going on with the chart.

I'm not a techie, so I can't give you the details on what this report is about, but a lot of the connection issues players have been experiencing right now are not Square Enix's fault. They are the fault of the infrastructure or "backbone" of the internet. Blame the big corporations. Or petition Square Enix to change their server location.

There are other threads on the forum which discuss this issue if you are willing to search them you might find more info. Good luck.

(At the time I posted this, the health report shows that my own connection to the game is horrible. I can expect terrible gameplay. I do not blame SE for this, as there is nothing they can do regarding how we are routed through the internet to their servers.)

Imagine you are driving between two cities. There's unlikely to be a straight road to the city so you have go via other town and cities. The nodes between Time Warner and SE are those other towns and cities. There's an issue in the journey at a node owned by level 3, let's call it a traffic incident.

My internet does not go through a level 3 node and I am still having connectivity issues. However, I ran a tracert and a node called te7-4.dr9.mtl.iweb.com seems to be taking an abnormally long time to respond whenever i run it during a lag spike.

Well the weird part is - I was fine - until yesterday! So if it really was an issue with my ISP wouldn't I have been affected with everyone else from the start? That's why it seems strange. This only began happening after patch 2.28 was implemented btw.

Traffic jams on the internet can happen at different places and times and affect different people differently even if they're on the same ISP if they're being routed on differing paths. Welcome to the internet.

Think of it this way. Imagine roads were built in 1950 able to handle 1000 cars per hour. Traffic was smooth. It's now 1980 and there are 3000 cars per hour. The cars are faster, and the road is full of potholes. There are also people on unicycles trying to use the highway. And a few homeless people with their rags and spray bottles, trying to clean your windows. That's the internet, these days.
