Should it be a major part of endgame? No. But should people be able to have the option for pvp content for either fun or even for setteling player to player or linkshell to linkshell disputes? Absolutely.

Saying no to PvP being a large part of the game is something I am behind. Not everyone likes pvp and should not be forced to take part in it. But to say that there should not be any is rather silly. Why do you care so much if people are given the option to knock each others skulls in? You never have to participate. I personally would like to have the chance to test my skills against another player, even though it's not typically my favorite thing. It can be a fun distraction from the main game. And besides, just offering it can not only boost the audience interested in the game, but affect how long they stay with the game, because with pvp, it's like a never ending group of bosses.

My thoughts exactly. For those who have done everything possible, they can still go do PvP to get a different experience each battle. I'm all for non-repetitive content, and PvP is hardly ever repetitive.

offering a choice for pvp is always a good thing as long as it is 100% seperate from ALL pve zones and content.
offer it as a side game only.

if they offered this i would say ok, even though persoanlly i despise pvp and see no need for it.

total seperation of pvp/pve from abilities to zones to....everything is the only way it wouldnt destroy ff in the long run.

yes please to pvp, though i played ffxi for 5years without it and barely did ballista. after ffxi i played my first pvp game (warhammer) and i think having some kind of pvp in any mmo will make it better. not saying needs to be open world , or have it 2 completly diff worlds to enter or whatever. but forms of pvp just adds more content to do.

ballista failed for only one real reason i think, not simple enough to get started. u had to get people to go, u had to make way there, or port from city after. times to do it and all that ...just not something i ever wanted to take the time to put together. but when u was in there it was really fun to do. they need to make it auto grouping and easy to join then it will succeed even if it's just a simple battle game like ballista was.

i went pvp and i don't think i want to go back to not having it, though i loved ffxi without it. so i can take this game with it or not, but it just might mean i play another mmo for pvp and it can sweep me away like an ocean current.

im indifferent to the pvp area. But i hope its not a mandatory 'option' to get good gear cause if thats the case i would have just joined another game that does massive PK and loot the dead pples expensive drops.

Before they think of PvP, which needs instant reaction times, they need to change the mouse accuracy and response time of the menus

    - Mouse -
if u click, it currently clicks anywhere in a 1 meter radius in game around the place u clicked. Its worthless and meaningless in a crowded area. I feel like im using the whole mouse itself instead of the small laser under it, to target things

    - Menu speed -
The beta felt like the UI was swimming in syrup. Currently its been upgraded to watery levels. Id prefer the UI menu to be on dry land type of speed and response.

PvP could be good if implemented properly; on the other hand, it'd be nice to be able to challenge someone out in the field to a closed duel while others watch.

I'm indifferent about it though, so long as they don't implement PvP as endgame content itself.

I really hope they don't do any type of meaningful PvP in this game. First because imo pvp doesn't fit FF at all but mostly because PvP is what causes all the classes imbalance. people won't stop whining about how one class is better than X other class in pvp and then all the balancing issues will come and PvE will be negatively affected by that.

PvP kills PvE balance and fun, please don't do it.

though i'm take it or leave it for this game i'd like to say that to say pvp doesn't fit on final fantasy is horrible thought, for one thing ffxiv is nothing compared to ffxi in game play. so in that they completly changed it for other types of players to enjoy so really what fits to them is cash. question is, is pvp a large number of ffxiv players. that i dunno probably 50/50 but either way i'd like to see it happen.

really they need to just make it fully seperate. or lol add a ok or deny at start of game stating all classes are meant to play differently, if u'r a mage then nut hug a mele that can save you or tough shit. the end. click enter. click deny. so what stop crying and go level something that don't make you cry then.

I can see FFXIV gaining more players because of PvP, but probably not the kind of fan base other MMOs have because of PvP. I do agree that when people see the FF label, they're not even thinking about PvP, but good gameplay and story-driven content, and that's exactly what FFXIV should be about. As much as I want PvP to satisfy my addiction developed from playing WoW (which is the only reason I ever touched that game) I'm with most people that say they'll quit if FFXIV is centered around it at endgame.

PvP is perfectly acceptable on both a small and large-scale environment, so long as it adheres to a few rules:

    - Optional, by which definition, one does not NEED to PvP to get good gear/items/story progression
    - Rule out open-world random gankings, no player should be barred from exploring the world BY OTHER PLAYERS
    - It should not interfere with the natural flow of the game and create excessive lag in overpopulated areas, etc (for example, PvP in towns, or PvP at/around Aetheryte Camps)
