Tracking Devs.... I fail to see the link in which this Chino person said that 1.18 may get delayed, that link only brought me to a thread that didnt have any dev posts in it, and relying on a source that isnt even on the Dev Tracker :/

We all know ffxiv is incomplete, they messed up badly when they started off, and that is exactly why the dev team were replaced with devs from FFXI. They are making the massive changes at this very moment that will shift the direction of the game for the better. Until they're done fixing all the mistakes the first devs made, you can't really say they're doing a bad job.

The dev post with emphasis on the if removed sounds like a simple "no promises but fingers crossed" community rep response.

Well, in order to meet there end of Summer 2011 deadline for all that fixex/content they need to get the initial patch out this month so I'm not worried
I am sarcastically stating that the "planned content" (which oh by the way keeps changing) for those patches are doubtfully enough to make 14 competition for the heavy hitting MMOs soon to release. I am sorry you didn't understand that Sonic_the_Hedgehog
Yes I know we all need to be optimistic. But some of us have been here since beta AND the game's release and know that SE has been releasing content in the weirdest manner.
Example: WHY would they think it a good idea to release Dungeons while the stats are still broken in-game?
ANSWER: To appease the angry masses as soon as possible.
(Awaiting the unavoidable misinformed incoming fan-boy response.)
some of us have time for not only all of that but also more than one MMO. too bad all the good MMOs arent out yet.I think 1.19 and 1.20 will be more important than 1.18.
1.18 is the foundation with the basic changes needed for the furure content / improvements (with the exception of dungeons, that will prolly get fine-tuned when job system comes out anyway).
I translated that french dev post to un-hype some people who were expecting 1.18 this week and getting excited (tho it's still possible ...). They should stop fixing hypothetical dates.
And for all the negative people, there are so many good things to do in the summer. Go take some sun, fresh air, play some golf and Tiger Woods some ladies.
im stuck sitting at the beach listening to chicks bicker about stuff i dont care about and men bicker about stuff i dont care about. oh well, the gym it is for me.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
The content needs to be developed regardless of the game's current status. There's no point to "saving" it to be developed "after" the rest of the game is ready, as it's a lengthy process regardless of when you start it.
Sure, they could just be sitting on the content, stating that the game is not ready for it. But if it's there, it is functional and implementing it allows them to gain feedback about it, they would be dumb not to release it.
But at the end of the day, you are just as incapable of being able too look at the state of the game objectively. It's not going to beat the competition by 1.20, that's just insane to even consider, but that's only a problem if the competition is anything to be worried about in the first place.
Rift sure was, lulz.
(Awaiting the unavoidable misinformed "but these gaems will be diffarent!" response.)

Hell even the competition that SE was apparently mainly concerned about(Cataclysm) had its hype fizzle out a few months after its release. The content needs to be developed regardless of the game's current status. I think a lot of problems, delays and so on are caused by unskilled development team. They probably also have a very poorly structured workflow hence the lack of -everything-. I blame the developers! Also work force conflicts and work environments are bad, probably very unmotivated unhappy employees!
