duty finder isn't there for you to spirit bond

....So some people actually consider spirit-binding gears in dungeons as a harassment? What do you have against spiritbinding, did it make fun of your mother or something... or did it set off your 'time wasting' allergies?

I do duty roulette everyday, and I generally spiritbind in some high level DF (Generally Wanderer's palace and Amdapor Keep) and most definitely Praetorium and Castrum Meridianum. These dungeons are designed for level i50ish, and a few stat losses (except for Vit which can take a toll on your HP) has only negligible impact on your DPS output for DDs, (and most of the damage comes from the weapon) and I'm pretty sure this applies to tanks and healers too.

Not one person, ever, has complained about me SBing, and yes I've SB in crafting gears (and yes I do change to main equips on bosses), and I perform fine enough. None of the dungeons are hard (I believe even expert only requires... level 60 set? I don't have access to the game atm).

So really, spiritbinding in dungeons is fine, and if you have a problem, suck it up or take the door, your choice, but don't expect SE to do anything about it.

And of course, be reasonable it. don't go absurd and SB in every slots.

HOwever, there ARE places where you have no business to SB in for obvious reason:

Any of the Coil turns.
Any of the primal fights
Any of the 'battle' style fights.

Cause really, it's both pointless and dumb to do it there.

They should change the way spirit bond works. You should have like spirit bond slots where you put gear you want spirit bonded while using your real gear. The whole mechanic of using bad gear while doing content so you can get materia isn't optimal and just leads to people getting mad at the person spirit bonding because they are using sub optimal gear.

Love that idea! Wish they would implement it, of course you will still get people trolling and doubling what they are bonding but would solve alot of issues

I SB regularly (DPS) using crafting gear for all the accessory slots. Sometimes I'll switch to full gear for the bosses. Even if I'm naked on the right hand side gear, my iLvl is 61, which is 6 levels higher than needed for Expert dungeons (and 11 higher than needed for hard, CT, etc). Accessories contribute much less to stats than the primary gear - we all know that the iLvl calculation weighs every piece the same, which is just not true of the effect of each piece. On my iLvl 97 brd, Dex added from the left is +175 (including weapon), from the right, 71.


My iLvl 100 weapon is responsible for most of the damage output and I still find that I draw hate from many tanks and outperform other DPS. Quite honestly, I see very little difference in speed between when I'm SB'ing versus fully geared and still regularly get player commendations.

So, yes, DF is there for me to Spirit Bond.

speaking of hilarious, here's what happened today:

DF roulette both expert & high level dungeon today, and I purposely SBing my craft gears here as BRD. But I do change to my optimal ones on bosses. After both duties done, I got commendation from both roulette.

Oh... and this is not 1st time I got commendation while SBing.

So in the end, this whole discussion are kinda moot since: a. As long as you perform well, it shouldn't be a problem after all, and b. apparently this drama only happens alot at NA/EU server, one of the perks playing in JP server I guess. But I have to admit, the drama's great! lol

That's not entirely accurate of a thing to say. It's more along the lines of underhandedly using your fellow pt members. I say that because I highly doubt you'd be all right about it if everyone in the group had done the SB crafting gear route? In particular, I doubt you'd be pleased if the tank had done the same thing lol. Basically, it's not exactly a fair deal for the people that it seems like you're simply taking advantage of. Call it hilarious all you want, but it's only funny until others take advantage of you lol. Or I guess until the group starts wiping constantly.

If you're talking about crafting gear SB, I throw the same comments I said above to you.

*edit* I neglected to mention on both accounts, this is only assuming if you're going full/near full crafting gear SB. If it's something like half (such as only accessories), then no biggy.

Why not just have spirit bonding progress when performing the relevant activity? Crafter and gatherer gear only gain spirit bond when crafting and gathering and combat gear obviously only gets spirit bond from combat.

At least with this people would be wearing stat boosting gear with relevant stats.

Recently I also had a party where rest of them are still even wear their original afs and the dungeon is AK. They do manage quite well up till Anantaboga when they wiped. Teached them how to properly do the fight and won on 2nd attempt. Nailed 3 commendations and got my gears SBed too. So it's a win-win to me. XD

So I ask you this: If you claim I'm taking advantage, then why I still got commendation? I'm not even asking them to give/trade them. lol

Like I said, things happened in US/EU server are pretty much different than JP. More drama >< Less drama. lol

hmmm unless we are wearing full 100% bonded gear to the DF. Every one is, technically, spiritbonding their gear while they are at it. Just sayin'

It is literally called a duty roulette. I know not everyone gambles, but come on. You see so many people complain about the DR. Don't friggin use it! All content is available without using the daily roulette.

Also, SE is not the community police. You cant dictate how other people play a game, when you are freely choosing to play with them.
