After 12 Atmas, then what - 1,500 myth x 9?

It takes about as long to get the tomes, as it takes to get all atmas.
completing all the books, takes about as much time also.
so it's around 100-150hr total. depending on RNG for atmas, and FATE spawn.

Too many people are looking at the grind as something to accomplish within a week or two. The approach should be done in a casual manner with no regard to the time spent doing it.

Q3: Are there any plans to make it easier to progress with the Saga of the Zodiac quest (i.e. increase FATE spawn rates, increase drop rate of Atma, decrease the number of Mythology tomestones to obtain books, etc.) in the future?

A3: There are no immediate plans to make adjustments to the quest (2.28 and 2.3). However, we may make adjustments in the future.

Furthermore, we do have plans to increase the number and location of Mythology tomestones obtained content in the near future so it will be easier to obtain books.

I did the grind for animus on brayflox. I hate how that aftertaste is once your done, the burn doesn't feel good. I want to get my BLM and PLD done, but I'm going to wait until its a little easier. Clearly they are gating this content much in the same way they do the rest of it. The HM and EX primals, and coil, after the content is old, they eventually make the previous content easier.

Yup, as everyone said, it's 1,500 X 9. I'm on book 4 now and I'd say I get a new book every week or so because I play quite casually...

So it just mean it'll take me about 2 months to finish my Animus. It's long, grindy, but not difficult. You have the choice to burn it and do it "fast", getting yourself fed up with it, OR do as I do : At your own rate, not really putting pressure on yourself.

And the last option is simply not to bother with it and go for Leviathan weapons. Then, when Novus weapons come out, go for Ramuh (or whatever else will be available as a side-option, because that's what they all are in the end).

The books are the worst. I honestly gave up trying simply because I'm sick of the dungeons in this game. I can't think of anything that ruins this games content then the whole tome system.

As a semi-completionist, I'm 3 relics away from having all of them, this is just so disappointing. I enjoy playing all classes equally and like gong back and forth from healer to tank to dps, to melee, etc...and spend most of my tomes on gear. Man I'm so bummed out right now. Forgetting for the moment the silly grind and horrible drop rates to get 12 separate atmas for one weapon (which is significant) if I wanted to upgrade all of them it would take me 1,500 x 9 x 8 = 108,000 tomes to do so? That's literally insane. Maybe I can get 250 a day, but I don't play this like it's a job. At 250 a day it would take me 432 days. Oh, Square - that's just not right. I know, I know "pick a class and do that one" I don't want to. I equally enjoy playing them all. What a bummer. Thanks for the replies.

There are actually 9 jobs, and we'll likely have 2-4 more in a few months. That means 1500 * 9 * 13 = 175 500... Yeah, it sucks a lot. It would have been so easy to simply give a discount when you're buying books for the 2nd, 3rd, etc... relics. Something like 1500 for the first 9 books, 1400 for books 10 to 18, and so on until a minimum price at something like 750 tomes.

What bothers me too, is that there are almost nothing humanly collectible currently. With the low drop rates, forget the mounts. With Ramuh weapons announced as rare drops, forget the primordial weapons. The relics, you can collect but most of them will stay in an incomplete state. There are still the pets if you're willing to pay for OST, but how long before 1 of the pet is a rare drop on non-spammable content?

I guess collectors are an irrelevant part of the total game population.

Atma/Animus is just a poor excuse of a questline.
No creativity behind it whatsoever.
I firmly believe this was merely created to keep people occupied until the next phase, rather than to entertain/amaze the playerbase, with a meaningful questline/creation process.

I am skipping ship with this.
After obtaining Atma weapon a month or so ago, I see no reason to do a mind numbing myth grind, followed by even more nonsense.

I'm pretty sure they've said that the myth increase IS for 2.28, and that 2.3 may also see an increase if they really need to, but I doubt that second one will happen. I guess we gotta just wait and see how much of an increase it's going to be.

I'm of the mindset of a few of the others that have already posted. I prefer the book grind where I can see measurable progress, to the random progress of the atma farming. I spent around 8 hours getting my first atma (over the course of a few days). that means 7 1/2 hours in, i was no closer than i was when i started. Is the book system "fun"? no, obviously not. But neither is farming fates nonstop for a crazy low drop percentage. One interesting effect from this system is it makes ppl actually choose a "main" job for the first time. Getting a relic and zenith is easy enough that ppl can and do get them for several if not all jobs. Atma and Animus weapons... well, ppl have to choose the one job (maybe 2 if they're masochistic) they REALLY want to stick with. the jury is still out on whether that's a good or bad thing, but a different dynamic for sure.

I'm way more comfortable doing myth grinds and tasks In books to upgrade my weapon. With every brayflox run and every book complete, I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something. And with every book complete, my stat goes up by 2 points. The atma portion of the quest was the worst. Too many times I would grind for hours and have absolutely nothing gained from it. Then I literally feel like I just wasted 4-5 hours of my life.
