1st boss Haukke Manor HM questions

I've problem tanking this boss. Different guides and vids mention different strategies, which do not work then in game.

So, what I get so far is:
    1) Keep adds killed far away from each other
    2) Tank each add

Or should I let DPS dispatch the adds, keep the boss in one spot facing away the party and just tank the bigg add when it shows up?

The adds should die extremely quickly, and in general you can just let the DDs handle them. However, you can also provoke + shield lob one of them if they pop within distance.

Be careful with letting adds run amok. They typically beeline for the healer, who ideally would bring the mobs to you. Just be aware of what enemy mobs are doing, and be sure to keep your healer safe if adds aren't being burned down fast enough.

Not sure what videos you've seen, but most of them don't seem to cover the summoning circle at all. Note that when you kill a skeleton, it's body does not disappear, but instead falls where it's killed. When the purple aoe is cast, any skeleton bodies that are in it will be revived to full hp. If the aoe covers four (I think) bodies, they will merge into the big add, which preferably should be avoided because of its hefty raid damaging ability. Killing the adds in different areas of the room helps prevent this add from spawning, but it seems largely based on rng for where the spawning circle is cast, so you could get unlucky regardless.

Yep, though the fight is typically brute forced considering most parties vastly overgear it.

Wow, I've done this fight successfully so many times and never actually knew what was going on. I always wondered what that purple aoe thing was. I always just assumed I should get out of it because it would deal damage. Haven't seen the large add in ages. I always assumed we were killing the boss too fast for it to spawn or something.

In any case, I suppose keeping these mechanics in mind could only be helpful, but in most cases your DPS can take out adds very quickly and you pretty much just move the boss if his freeze (or whatever) move gets in the way.

Thanks for the replies and tips. And yes, sometimes the DPS vastly overgear it and we run without problems, and sometimes there are people who are just unlocking Duty Roulette

Ive had that stupid Steward spawn even with a group pretty well geared. That guy hits harder than the boss. I always tell my groups to ensure those adds are spread out so we don't get that guy.

Haukkke HM is actually much more mechanically rich than people realize, since you just overgear and faceroll it.

Did you know the final boss has a hard enrage?
