The growing entitlement issues of the casuals

I play because I want an experience. Having fun with other people, doing things the game provides for you to do (and some things the game never intended!) Call me casual, but I'd rather fill my hours with messing around the world given to me than waste my time grinding for better gear/stats in the same spot over and over.

Did you ever do an LS-wide naked rank 1 race into dangerous enemy territory? I did. And had a blast!

Did you ever make a Tarutaru train follow you around Jeuno? I did. Choo Choo!

Did you ever randomly power level some guys in Valkurm, because you know their pain? I sure did!

Did you ever go exploring just because you've never been there before? Oh sure.

Did you ever offer free teleport service, just because? All the time.

Did you ever take your significant other out on a "date", visiting pretty places while having a small adventure? I sure did.

Did you ever just happen to chance upon an NM, call your LS mates together, and win the fight to receive a super rare item? I did! ROC STARS FTW.


Look back on the time you've spent playing this and other MMO's. What moments were most memorable? I guarantee it wasn't the hours spent grinding or camping that NM. Why someone would want to play hardcore and compete with other players for the best items is beyond me.

I play for fun. I'd rather the game designers kept that in mind, than solely cater to hardcore content for all you people who seem to forget what gaming is about.

I think that its decided and nothing anyone says or ask for will change it this game was made and is being molded into a game just for casual players, thats it.

Get as much done by giving as little effort as possible seems to be the motto, some will like that some wont.

Fact of the matter is that it is their game(SE) and if they wanna gamble on the thought that it will be more successful by trying to appeal to ppl that have little time to play, then thats their decission to make.

Thoes that want depth and challenge from a mmo within the FF universe will have to wait for the next game or go back to XI because XIV is not going to be that, very dissapointing but it seems to be the route they want to go.

Me personally I am hoping that the director and development team from XI get a shot at creating a next gen MMORPG for Final Fantasy fans, I think that their product would be more to my liking, challenge/strategy to me = fun.
Some think gaming should be easy, but anything you get in life or in a game taste that much sweeter if you worked hard to earn it.

I work fulltime have a wife and 3 year old son, I cant play 24/7 but i still think that you should only be able to get what you put in work for, so that casual hardcore stuff to me is crap a quality mmo makes you earn what you get.

Maybe it's me, maybe I don't get what the debate is about but I don't think that people who consider themselves casuals want things for free with no effort. I know that myself I want the challenge for the stuff I get and people that assume that casual = easy mode, well I think they are wrong. Casual wants a challenge but time =/= hard/challenging.

Dear SE community reps, there are plenty of responses in this thread to show that both players who consider themselves "hardcore" or "casual" are willing to work together for a common goal (ie; challenging content that does not require hurting people's life obligations).

There are also the bad apples who will whine incessantly about which is better/worse, which is your playerbase/which is not, etc, etc, etc...

In short, for the love of the twelve, close this useless thread.

So long as I dont have to go thru the same type of hell to get a fully upgraded sword like the XI dynamis weapons Im all game for hard work to get the top notch gear. But there is a point that things start becoming beyond absurd.

People mistake dyna weapons as being hard to get.... nothing hard about them they just took time and the power they gave you justified them. Being able to hold of knhimera for 10 mins while your ls gets there is really broken.
