Microsoft's policy is that in a multiplayer Xbox game you only play with/against other people on Xbox.

Yoshi-P doesn't want the game's population separated by console, he wants everyone to play together regardless of how.

the thing was that MS wants their own servers for FF14, ps3/ps4 and pc plays together and xbox 1 be playing by them self....

I don't know how true this statement is, only because FFXI runs on Xbox 360, and it's connected to the same servers as PCs and PS2s. There must be something else to it.

The issue was not that MS wants MS-only servers, it was that MS wants to require MMO players to still pay for Xbox Live Gold, an SE has always been against making their customers paying 2 monthly fees for the same game. MS allowed XI to be played with no monthly fee, an then afterwards said that they would never allow another company to do the same thing, an SE did not agree. Hence the reason we are allowed the work around on ps3/4 an not required to have psn+. And for those who didnt know, this game was originally being developed for the xbox 360, until the conflict that I just talked about came up.

Very true, and you might have missed that was already covered, hence the petition to Microsoft, and not to SE and Yoshi-P.

Should also note in case it was missed, that this setup has zero noticeable lag which is fantastic.
