Square Enix should of made the Summoner a Final Fantasy themed pet based job but instead they made it a generic Affliction Mage with a pet.

There is no room to improve Summoner.

Does someone have Power Word: Kill on their spell list and prepared for the day? I'm fairly sure this thread has 101 hit points or fewer at this point...

There is no room to improve SMN's DPS but there is room to make it more fun and versatile, or less like an Affliction Warlock from WoW w/o Fear and Demon Form. Or even more like an Affliction Warlock from WoW just by making every pet an actual option. Right now SMN (despite being #1 DPS) can't even live up to class it was modeled after despite the flawed balancing that Blizzard is known for in a class well over 12 years old.

I guess I should have wrote, "/sarcasm". I figured it was transparent. My mistake.
the devs painted themselves into a corner with the class>job dynamic, it's given them very little room for creativity. They started with an affliction mage class with a pet that had to turn into an affliction based mage job with a pet and a similar type healer with a pet. It ruined smn cuz it shouldn't be so DOT heavy AND ruined sch, cuz sch shouldn't even have a pet to begin with.
^^I agree; Gonna be an interesting E3 to say the least, wondering how they can improve/get themselves out of this one. Their lack of creativity/laziness will come back to haunt them sooner or later; just my humble opinion. Perhaps E3 will announce something that will blow us away, however, based on their track record, there may be a plethora of rage threads.
sorry, shouldn't have mentioned sch in smn topic. I don't play sch because it's a pet class and it shouldn't be. Scholar having a fairy is as reasonable as Monk having a fairy, or pretty much any random person walking around with a fairy. The only reason Sch has a fairy is to fit into the class > job dynamic they forced themselves into.
