Everything ive ever read about monk states get your skillspeed to around 400, then concentrate on other things.

Most monk best in slot lists currently have the animus listed as the second best option, only second to the high Allegan weapon. (which also has skill speed btw)

1. Your info is outdated if you're reading to get skillspeed around 400. I had as low as +0 skillspeed from gear and still be able to fit 5 skills into Perfect Balance which is the reason for that myth.
2. Monk's stats weights have been known since forever and Det is weighted at 0.329, crit 0.163, skillspeed 0.158 so you see skillspeed is the worst of them all.
3. I don't know what BiS list you're talking about but here's the generally agreed upon with turn 9 weapons http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MCNJ. High Allagan is BiS because of i115 with higher WD and higher Strength. Without the High Allagan Weapon, Glanzfaust beats the Animus by just being i110 vs i100 so Animus is not second best option. It's the 5th option. It goes High Allagan -> Glanzfaust -> Weathered Glanzfaust -> Tidal Wave -> Animus per the stats weight above. 20 Det = 40 Crit > 28 skillspeed.

Its a shame that the Paladin Zodiac has better stats than the burtgang, as IMO its the best looking weapon paladin has ever had in this game.

I agree with you there but I know plenty of PLD mains who hate it. Don't know why.
If they ever release a secondary way to get UATs then I'll probably get one for the hell of it

All classes should be getting Animus (if they want) because you can customize the Novus to your stat preference (I'd imagine)

I won't be either. I already have the W. Book of Spades and I have full intention of upgrading it... I just need to win the Sand lot, lol

Plus if Novus is just another glow on top of the customization, I won't be interested personally
