I'm pretty sure she meant in game dialogue and quest not lore. Even the lore itself doesn't support the Egis because the Primal's Essence is wild and uncontrollable so how can Summoner's shape them into Egis when the Essence of the Primal itself would naturally do what it wants and take on smaller and weaker form of the Primal it's a essence came from which is more logical.

No, you're wrong. Lore is Lore.

What Wolf_Shay linked to, though, doesn't entirely support the argument, though. It does mention gemstones, but that's all it does. THe rest of what Wolf_Shay has said seems to be his own speculation, not actual Lore.

If this wasn't a Final Fantasy title no one would complain about the Egis because it would be another generic MMO but this is Final Fantasy XIV and people expect a certain level of experience and the Egis take away from the Final Fantasy feel of the Summoner. I don't want a gigantic Primal as a pet but if the pet was a weaker and smaller replica of the primal it would end a lot of complaints about the Summoner.

oh, people would easily still find things to complain about. And the issue of "Is it pet-class-enough or not?" is a valid debate, but a lot of people finding issue with it is seeking out a mechanics explanation for what "feels" wrong.

The issue is in Final Fantasy XI the Pets were a balance between classic Final Fantasy style and MMORPG game play and just needed a few tweaks to be viable but the Summoner job sucked. In Final Fantasy XIV the Summoner job is great but the Pets are lackluster because they gave us generic Sorcerer Pets from DCUO and it has been the main complaint about the Summoner since the open beta. The Summoner's Pets are out of place and simply aren't Final Fantasy their generic insert game here type pets.

Its explained by the lore. I wouldnt mind a different looking LB but basing your like/dislike of a class based simply on aesthetics/animations is a really silly thing to do.

Plus the way the egi are now is non-resource intensive which makes it run better on the PS3/4. Im a PC player myself but the extra players a PC/Console MMO brings is very nice and contributes a lot to the longevity of the game.

Imo, the game never should've been ported to the PS3. That's why the graphics quality is so much lower in 2.0 than it was in 1.0. They should've just held off on console until PS4 release. Plenty of other MMOs have managed just fine without being on a console, too.

And I don't dislike Summoner because of the Egis. I'm just disappointed in how they look and would find it more enjoyable if they had more of an FF feel to their appearance. I'd still probably pick blm over smn just cause I prefer the blm playstayle.

I completely agree with Crevox and everything mentioned at the beginning of his post. Lots of silly "unrelated to summoner" abilities (that could just be arcanist abilities). And yes, I wish summmoner was more pet-based. When I decided initially to be a summoner, I didn't think I would be playing a "final fantasy-themed" WoW warlock.

I'm sure there is still hope for it and I look forward to future changes with it (aka an overhaul). =-)
