I see no point in re-doing the event. I'm a ps4 player and I missed the event and maybe that's my fault for also not logging in on my ps3 during the times of the event. If they were to repeat the event just because a console missed it that would in my book make Square look weak.

Besides, I'm sure the majority of the people who want the event is to get lightning hair, which I don't understand why someone would want a hairstyle almost every female character already has. Idk about Anyone else but in an mmorpg I try to look different from other players.

If I recall from an interview almost a year ago, Yoshi-P stated that if a character from another Final Fantasy game is either dead or done with their story, they'll never appear in FFXIV.

As the FFXIII saga is now over and done with, this can also mean that Lightning can no longer return to Eorzea (though if she does for whatever reason, it can not be the same quests and FATE's).

FFXI's Shantotto made sense because of the A Shantotto Ascension storyline in FFXI (also implied she may return).
Dragon Quest X made sense in this game because the NPC's were still the Hydaelyn races.

I'm totally for just handing out all the event items and a token for the lightning haircut from the Calamity Salvager or something. This game has removed anything "limited" or "unique" already as it is and just let everyone have it. Actually I think most of the community could care less about the lightning items or hair at this point.

What I would take issue with is a 3rd coming of the lightning event when they could release some new event instead. To me it would be like them doing a christmas event again in June because someone was sad they couldn't troll CT in a snowman outfit... And while CT wouldn't be CT without trolls in weird non-appropriate gear, I have to be brave and say it would just be too much for the community to allow to happen.

Well, yes, sadly that is exactly how it is.

I did not buy 1.0 because it was on PC, and i kept telling myself "I'll get it when it comes out on PS3."

Years passed, and they completely rebuild that game into ARR.

I will never have a legacy tattoo (wich, in some way similar to hairstyles, is a part of character creation), i will never have that old gobbue mount and much more.

That's because i was not there at the time. It sucks, sure, but as i say, thats just how it is.

...What exactly was 'limited' and 'unique' which was removed? As an example, many 1.0 items are unobtainable and remain limited to only those who participated in certain events/played 1.0.

Legacy chocobos and Legacy Marks will only be limited to those who were part of 1.0 and participated in the Legacy Campaign. They haven't re-offered the rewards, nor are they planning to.
The Goobbue mount with the rug is limited to those who got lvl 30 and did the quest for the duration of which it was available. A different version of the Goobbue mount exists, however, the 1.0 Goobbue mount is STILL limited.
Dalamud Horn, Manderville Earring, Moonlet and your guardian's ring (Althyk's Ring, Nophica's Ring etc) were only obtained from specific questlines in 1.0 as a reward, story and side-story locked. These have yet to be seen in ARR as far as I know, and thus, are still limited.
Peregine Helm was obtained by exchanging unaspected crystals in 1.0, an item no longer obtainable in ARR, and thus, the helm is also limited to those who made the effort to collect the crystals and trade them in.
Many consumables are also limited to 1.0 players. Dalamud Nut, Moon Nut, Overaspected Crystals are examples.
Many worthless items are also limited to 1.0 players. Vortex Headdresses, Inferno Tapers, Unmarked Keystones, Unsealed Memorandums, Miser's Mythril, Faded Pages, the Archon Eggs from 1.0 Easter events are examples.

ARR has its share of limited items as well. XIII, XI and Dragon Quest X cross-over event items being the key example to this.
The veteran rewards are limited in a sense to those who are willing to pay the subscription as well.

In fact, the only item/feature that I can see that was 'limited' and 'unique' being made available is fantasia potions. Nothing else comes to mind.

You keep saying this as if there's a difference. You chose to start playing once PS4 version was released, therefore you're a new subscriber, therefore you don't deserve to get the rewards from the Lightning event because you weren't there for it. I'm not sure how many times we are going to have to tell you before it sinks in.

Even if they did bring the event back, what about future new players that don't buy the game until after the rerun finishes? What about players that don't start playing until the first expansion, or the second, or the third? Are they going to re-run the event every month, until 2020? If you're not arguing for this, what it really sounds like you're saying is "I want a chance at this stuff, but I don't care about anyone who joins the game after me." It just seems selfish.

I think you might be exaggerating just a bit about the novelty of that event. It was on the same level as holiday events. Do some FATEs (but with added RNG!) and turn in tokens for cosmetic gear. Wipe hands on pants.
