Why? What they promised already doesn't work from a equal rights stand point (though only because SE is being silly), or really a gameplay standpoint (how many couples are there in Eorzea? Honestly...). It should be something they reconsider, they reconsider plenty of other things. Why should couples be the only people that get benefits from such a system? I'm sure there are plenty of BFFs who could equally benefit from it. A strictly platonic pairing system has benefits for literally everyone, and couples can making it non-platonic purely by being a couple. It is literally the best possible thing they could do, instead they'll probably just add something like that later on top of marriage, which will probably make matters worse.
