Atma disappointment social help thread. For those with no luck.

    Well, 3/12, with 1 extra.

When ppl I know working in third Animus.

No hope in 2.28 or 2.3 that they will increase the Atma drop rate.

Restarted Atma farming, did 3 zones no luck with drops. Hours spent going to waste it seems.

So yeah.. this is a Atma help group thread, in hopes of getting those without luck with Atma to give each other encouragement.

To soldier on and be the RNG god's slave for all eternity

    What i am curious about...

if people say that they did farm "hours", what do they mean? Standing around waiting for 1 Fate? Or actually doing it non-stop and getting to every possible fate in the zone, within the mentioned Timeframe? This is an honest question, since i've seen people claiming that they did 4-5 days, 7+ hours a day and not even have the 1000 Fate, or even 300 Fate achievement. For my first set, i did boost my fates from 600ish to 1700+. So 900 fates, not counting the duplicates i've got, because i didnt pay attention or were farming seals. A couple days ago i did restart farming and boosted from 1700ish to 2100. So 400 fates in like 3 days and i am close to finish my second and third set.

See, do not get me wrong. I do feel for people having such bad luck, i am just wondering how much fates people actually do.

The last thing anyone wanna do is count how many FATES they done. And FATE pop rates also varies from zone to zone. Mid LN I did less then 10 in an hour, while Southern Tha I did about 12. Depending on playtime, most of the time less then 3hours I need to stop. Can get really frustrating.

Well, at least ppl restarted farming Atma after the news.

I don't have any atmas, but I haven't put in much time. I've only spent a couple hours running around doing fates, but it's enough for me to feel like it's terrible. I mean, I would probably rather it be a set 100 fates per atma than how it is, because at least then there could be a tracker telling me just how much longer I'm going to have to do this and I could feel like each fate was a step towards getting it done, and not feel like I'm wasting my time or constantly wondering if I'm somehow doing something wrong.

Unless you already have the 3000 Fate achievement, you can just use that to track your progress without actually counting every Fate. It took me 369 Fates for all 12 Atma. I think it's reasonable to go by fates rather than hours because that's how Atma drop. It may be that some of the people who complain about being unlucky just aren't getting to as many Fates in the same time frame as others (for example, they're distracted by complaining in Atma threads).

Exactly. Took me about 800 fates for my first atma.Spent up to 7 hours in a couple of zones for the atma, like Western Thanalan. This atma I did non stop, took me about 30 hours.
For the second, i just went and did FATEs while doing the daily quests, waiting for the duty finder for the animus, or other things and got some, so decided to finish my second.

Stoppped for about a month, but now i'm restarting atmas for my third.
I actually enjoy the farming, a bit every day, while I wait for mining spots to pop or stuff like that.

So yeah. I think 90% of the people complaining about atmas would have theirs if they spent as much time farming as complaining on the forums.
However, it all comes down to RNG. The more you do, the bigger chances you have to get it. (well, mathematically, the more you do, the less chances you have to NOT have it)
Some people have luck, others (like me) blew up 10 Sargnas with 20% chances to do my first relic back in 1.0.. and GREED 1 in a Nightmare Whistle in Garuda Ex. So there's that.

So, OP. Do not think of it as a chore or as something you NEED to do.
If you have the time, farm it. I usually find it easier to start with zones where there are recurring FATEs, like daily quests zones: Souther Thanalan, East Shroud, Western La Noscea and Outer La Noscea.
If you don't have the time (which a lot of people don't cuz of work and family, and its totally understandable) remember you're not REQUIRED to do this. This is for end-game gear, which you probably won't even use if you don't have time. So work casually towards it and keep in mind that they'll make it easier progressively when new relic steps are released.

Most reports I've heard have people getting all 12 Atma around 300-400 Fates. I don't think there's anything wrong with your idea but it would have to be a lower number than 100 because that would actually make it about 3x worse for most people than the way it is now.

The more FATE one do does not increase your chances of a drop.

It just give you hope of a drop. Since there is fix RNG behind it. And to get a drop you need to work the RNG.

I've actually been doing just that. I write down a tally mark after each FATE, so I can count how many it takes me to get each ATMA. Here are my results so far:

    Bull: 21
    Scales: 59
    Crab: 1
    Maiden: 94
    Water-Bearer: 65
    Ram: 117

And it DOES take hours to do just a hundred fates. They each take several minutes, and you have to wait for a FATE to pop sometimes, and run to it, etc. It's not like you can do them that quickly.

Honestly I would rather atma grind than wait for a specific fate to spawn for the atma books. Its the only thing that makes completing the books drag on, you would think with all the fate grinding to get a atma we would at least get a free pass of not having fates in the book lol.
