    Duty Roulette =/= Speedruns

First, I've no problem with speedruns. If majority is in agreement, I am perfectly fine with them. The days I get Lost City of Amdapor and not speedrun it makes me squee since I love that dungeon... but I am noticing an extremely large amount of rude people telling people how to speedrun. The last one made one of our DPS leave because other said DPS was telling him how to speedrun.

It isn't a speedrun. Duty roulette is not a speedrun. Its duty roulette. This is really becoming the norm. Why can't people use party finder and make speedruns on their servers? I don't think anything can be done, but... still. Its a big problem these days. :/

EDIT: As one pointed out, yeah. Duty Finder seems to apply to this, as well. I've just used the roulette for so long, I've called it that!

i think you mean duty finder in general since no one knows you're in duty roulette when you enter the instance

Neither is the Duty Finder in general, but that's how the community molded DF as a Speed run hell.
That has been the norm for quite some time. :/

And people would just counter argue you: "Well make a PT for normal runs."
    It's meh.

    I agree.

While I'm fine with speedrunning, if I notice that the healer or DPS isn't that well-geared to keep up with the huge mob pulls in Brayflox Hard for example, I'm not going to speedrun even if another person in the group is telling me to.

Totally agree with you. I do speed runs through my own personallly formed parties, or entering someone else's party finder. However, I also get sick of people expecting speed runs even on normal DF or daily roulettes.

The main problem, IMO, is that to get one Animus you need 13,500 Myth, and the dungeons only give 50 a pop. Just think, as well, that most people play at least one other job, so that would be 27,000 Myth for 2 Animus weapons or a disgusting 40,500 Myth for three Animus weapons.

The sad reality, is that the issue probably will not go way until a) they increase Myth b) they decrease the Animus book cost c) they find a way to penalize this kind of behaviour through Duty Finder (won't happen) or d) a combination of the above.

This should really be consolidated into one of the other existing threads about this issue. Several have popped up in the last few weeks...

Duty Roulette can easily be speed runs, but as a rule of thumb, that's something the whole party should agree upon at the beginning of the dungeon. If not, then you run it however you can run it. Tanks, if your party doesn't agree to do a speed run, guess what, you don't get to do zoom zoom, and if you do, I hope you like dying because that's what's going to happen when you have 20 mobs hitting you and not enough dps to kill them or heals to heal you. If the whole party can't agree to do a speed run it's usually for a good reason. Check your members, they probably aren't prepared for it because, hey, this is a random generated group after all. It's not a group that joined with the intention to speed through it, but simply the intention to clear it. If you can't take an extra 10-15 minutes or so to do a run normally, then don't even bother queing.

I've noticed tons of repeated topics that could easily go into existing threads lately. I know mods have the ability to consolidate threads, so I'm not sure why they don't.

I agree. However, sometimes magic can happen in DF.

I que as BLM just in case I get Bray. I end up getting bray....but with another BLM and a WHM. We all get excited.

    Me: Oh yea
    Tank: BIG PUUULLLLSS?!!
    Me: Let's flare s**t up
    other BLM: BIIIIGGGG

We then proceed to clear to Bray in around 11-12 mins. (love triple flare and a whm that holies). Was great!

Otherwise yea, i dont expect speed in DF. If i tank, after observing the party comp/gear i may do slightly larger pulls to test if they can handle it, followed by normal or regular large pulls depending on first pull's outcome.

That's just it. Never expect a SR. If people want to do it, and there's no problem with it, then go ahead. Otherwise, deal with it I say. I did a lowbie roulette once (as tank) where a DPS decided we needed to SR, and started pulling mobs for me. I sat back and ate my dinner (since no one else was really up for it).
