When it comes to dragons I much rather kill them than have 1 as a pet, the dragon boss fights have always been my favourite in any FF game, I patiently await stone vigil HM for some dragon slaying. Watch the forum if it turns out stone vigil got taken over by flowers, ill b first to riot.
personally i'd rather there be an offshoot class of lnc with a wyvern pet wyvern knight
I'd rather the strength, burst, and mobility of the Dragoon itself than sacrifice parts of that for a likely mechanically uninteresting and/or awkward pet. I'd gladly take the option though, if it is in fact an option. I'd just likely turn the option down.
Hell, why not have the job take on any direction of three with expanded levels: can make it (1) heavier, with aspects of evasion / leap-tanking alongside heavy armor and good parry and counters, fire and frost resistance, etc., (2) increase mobility and related damage further, (3) get that lovely pet wyvern with interesting and powerful potential for coordination.

Dragoons aren't as cool as Mario.
He's more of a Monk using Jump boots who can shoot fireballs who has an arsenal of weapons at his disposal and can transform into various things. Also has a brother and a princess is his lover.
Dragoon's will never be as cool as Mario at this point.
And guess what you'll be doing if you had it as a pet? When it comes to dragons I much rather kill them than have 1 as a pet, the dragon boss fights have always been my favourite in any FF game, I patiently await stone vigil HM for some dragon slaying. Spirit Surge kills the Wyvern pet so you can infuse your jumps with more power. Which is exactly what FFXI does.

The motto, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer," comes to mind in this thread haha.
Still not sure why everyone is automatically jumping the gun in thinking by adding a Wyvern to the job that it has to become a pet class. Again, could merely be an aesthetic or mechanic to a new job ability when the level cap is raised and we get more job abilities.
Yoshi has basically come right out and stated that he won't turn DRG into a pet job so there's no worry there. Now why wouldn't you want for there to be a cool Wyvern aesthetic in another move? Perhaps you can call forth the energy of the dragons you've slain to shield you or strengthen you temporarily. The fact that he also mentions the story means that if they were to add in a Wyvern mechanic that it would be tied to a story which means the creation of additional lore. In fact, we partake in special job quests to get new job abilities, remember?
An MMO is an ever changing game, just because one piece of lore states one thing (Dragoons kill dragons in quests 1 thru 5) doesn't mean that a new piece of lore can't evolve from that (Dragoon becomes one with dragons in quests 6 thru 10).

I wouldn't bother. People aren't even paying attention to the fact that nothing has been confirmed and are simply assuming it has been. I have made a couple posts saying that the video doesn't confirm anything, but people are ignoring that in favor of wishful thinking. All we can do is hold this in our back pocket so that when people start hating on SE for not putting a wyvern in we can say "Should have listened to us."This is how you guys set yourself up for disappointment so much. He is asked a common fan question, he gives his thoughts on the feasibility of implementing it, and everyone takes it as confirmation it is going to come. What does putting "not explicitly announced" in the topic achieve when you prefix it with a certain statement? It's a contradiction. I'm reminded of Life of Brian; Yoshida is the messiah and the official forums are the followers blowing everything he does way out of proportion.

I bet much like War got a Bear and Pld got a Lion that dragoon gets a wyvern mount in future, that is the most likely conclusion.
