Precisely...and it's a shame it's not like that in modern mmosYou tell me where you could find easily accessible and detailed information sources and video guides for any MMO back when 56k was still the norm. YouTube wasn't even a thing when WoW was released!
People didn't help each other out in-game in games like EQ and early FFXI out of the goodness of their hearts. It was because...well...you kinda had to.![]()

You are right I didn't go back and read all of your posts... Reading on my phone I commonly miss who stated each reply. I think I'm in more alignment with your overall view than I previously thought... For what is worth apologies?![]()
Umm. . . SE has made at least as many console racing games as Blizzard has, and has certainly released more console games in general than Blizzard has. Why are you using this to bash Blizzard, again?
SE have put video guides to kill bosses before (every FFXI player here remembers that video for sure.......what a joke from SE....)

In other games some years ago, I used to found and lead guilds and have like 300 friends. We chatted about everything, and had fun. Those times are gone for good (or bad). Even guild chat is 99% about gear and the like.

Man, I can't believe this thread has gone on 28 pages. Definitely not going through it but even the last page there's signs of nostalgia, and as fun as that is to talk about the days before youtube etc it's all irrelevant. I've played MMOs since they were called MUDs and were text-based. There were boss fights with specific nuances to them even in that format, bosses that would rage if you did damage too fast or had weaknesses to certain elements or bad reactions to certain types of damage etc, and people did talk about fights beforehand. There was the equivalent of party finder where people would gather people to fight certain bosses and gear checks and "please know what you're doing" were certainly common there too.
And even if there weren't the point would still be that if there's information that's easily accessible to you it's common courtesy to people you don't know that you're going to do stuff with to take a look at that information. Youtube is just today's equivalent of nintendo power or BBS's or whatever.
if i have to cheat and get the walkthrouth of the fight and can't learn by myself ... even if i'm the type of people who need to do it myself to learn cos watching a video hearing people talk and try to see the spell he did or the other did...its like hummm WTF stop rewind each time is not fun.
What next ???? people saying "Sorry only want people with cheat programs that do the run perfectly by himself" ????
Like i said : "Some people need to do things by themself" ..... I'm Dyslexia .. i learn stuff better when i do it by myself. i build my pcs and family pcs .. cos i learned it by myself not by reading cos i forget when i read that why i hate walkthrought but im good learner when i do it by myself.
But there people like me ... they are good player if you give them a chance.
It's one thing to create/join a learning party and expect no advice. It's another to join a random party and expect people to hand you a strategy you could have looked up yourself. I'm more confused by people joining and asking for a strategy handout than I am by people who actually go in blind and ask for no advice.
But In PF there alot of Pros party .... So new people goes in DF to learn but they get bitch at by pro fighter cos they didnt know how when you see that happen in lvl 15 dungeon it's kinda lame. I got in lvl15 dungeon i see new people i'm happy to give tipsIt's one thing to create/join a learning party and expect no advice. It's another to join a random party and expect people to hand you a strategy you could have looked up yourself. I'm more confused by people joining and asking for a strategy handout than I am by people who actually go in blind and ask for no advice.
And like you said if they can ask advise why not look up...
but you didnt understand me. Some people who look those video they get more lost then its help them they need to be in the action.
Like i said for me im dyslexia i dont mean that people who have difficulty with video or dont look it are dyslexia like me ..but dyslexia if you know what it is :its have that and it not fun i had so much difficulty learning and i don't read books
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_memory
But when i do thing myself and people tell me it while i do. i wont forget it the next time
i dont read book cos after 3rd page i forgot the first page story cos im imaginary type i goes in my head easely even when i talk to someone or when i walk in street i daydream(dangerous but i was able to control it and get out of it when i need to cross street)
In school i never study cos when i was i was failing my test ..and if i didnt i was remembering all i learn in class and pass exam.
And some people just prefer to be see what the boss look like they they see it ..or see how the dungeon look like when they will do it... you know people dont like spoiler people ..and on youtube there alot of that

Future looks dim all right. Dim for those who support going in blind. Sooner or later those who teach every single run are gonna move on and stop caring. The future looks really dim for people who want to go in blind.
This is really not an argument to begin with. If one simply asks oneself: "If the other members were all playing like I am now, would we clear this?"
If the answer to that is no, well...
