    Dueling means you're gonna see the person's name you're challenging.
    => Possibility of trash-talking
    => Goes against what SE wants (i.e their reason for the implementation of standardized names)

    It also means they have to worry about 1v1 balance from all the whiners who don't realize PvP is not balanced for 1v1.

    So, probably not gonna be implemented soon.

    How about fixing the current state of PvP instead? That'd be kinda cool.

    People will trash-talk in any setting.

    Not sure what your second point even means.

    I don't think 1v1 balance is something SE would have to worry about. They could just pull a Blizzard and say outright that "Classes are not tuned for 1v1. That's just how it's gonna be."

    As for "fixing the current state of PvP", I'd actually say duels would be a nice step. It adds more variety, and there are plenty of people who would take part in it. Even if the only reward is bragging rights amongst your friends. I'm happy with any expansion on PvP. Even if it's "just" for fun.

    I know I'd be trashing my FC buddies in... just about all my downtime, ever.

    Of course 1 on 1 will make you better in pvp. You will learn how to deal more damage more easily, how to cc chain better and also when the battle becomes one on one you won't mess up and actually win because you know how to fight. To be a good team player you actually have to know how to be good by yourself, in anything.
