    Duty Roulette and Abuse

    Hi.

I try DR and get Pharos Sirius. Tank there is polite enought to wait for loading to end, then says: "fk this god damn dungeon" and leaves. Whatever his teammates' waiting time. Whatever their next waiting time.

Such game experience is much worse than RMTs.

Can you make it so :
    - Any player starts any DR, it's take it or lose it?
    - we know who we "played" with, so we can report any player we met and you actually care about it, so they'll think twice next time?
    - we can report any player that "lost" connection and you'll deal with them if they happen to "have such bad luck" often?

Same with Duty Finder and players leaving at first wipe.

    Disgusted but still believing.

I'm a little opposed to this.

Sure, it's an inconvenience to other party members to have to wait for a new member, but seriously...

This also means that you are forcing people to potentially stay within a group that has zero chance of winning. Or 20% chance and making it incredibly stressful. Or even make someone run a dungeon they have no desire in, experience in, or flatout hate. That's not going to improve the mood, and the person might just flatout AFK or try and wipe the party out of spite to get them to quit.

Preventing people from leaving instances will never be a good thing if you look at the alternative outcomes of keeping them in...

Well - frankly - then they shouldn't use the DR to ("risking") joining it in a first place, right?

It seems silly to do a duty roulette (keyword: roulette) if you don't have any intention of sticking around just because you get a dungeon you don't particularly care for. It also wastes everyone else's time.

I had this happen twice in a row in Toto-rak. First time it was the healer that ditched, second time it was the tank. 40 minutes of my time was wasted because of people like this. It's obnoxious.

The Duty Roulette gives A LOT if you just accept to do what it asks you to do. If you meet players badly stuffed, they still need help. And, by starting a DR, you offered to help.

You can't seriously start a DR, leave it and start again until you get something you want?! This is pure selfishness.

If they really wanted people to stay, they would've had to take away your bonus for the day if you drop. I was under the impression they were going to do this originally, because I though I remembered yoshi saying that dropping from undesirable dungeons would have 'harsh consequences'.
My guess is they didn't want people to cry that it's unfair if they have to leave due to emergencies.

You can report players who 'lose connection' to avoid penalty. Take screenshots, copy chat log if they've been rude, include timestamps and what timezone you use in the report. GMs can find the logs with this. I've had several chats with GMs ingame about this and they've always been as helpful as they can.

Dropping from group in a way that doesn't avoid penalty and is not preceded by abusive language/disruptive playing[trying to cause wipes to make the group want to disband] can't be punished, however, since they took the 30 min penalty.

Well, everything has 2 sides. On one side you have "This is a dungeon that I despise, completely. I don't care how capable the rest of the party is I don't care and don't want to find out". These people might be able to entertain themselves while waiting of the lockout to be lifted and/or have really fast queues after the lockout is lifted. On the other hand we have "I don't care whether you like the dungeon or not, you accepted the risk of getting it when you signed up for roulette it in the DF". These people might not have a lot of time available to queue as many times as needed to find other 3 random people who are completely fine with the dungeon and/or have long queues which are not pleasant to sit and wait for (saying "craft, gather, etc." is not valid, because just like with dungeons, some people do not enjoy these activities).

The point is, people will always look out for their best interest. If you think that quitting a dungeon and waiting for the lockout is more effective/better than trying to do a dungeon that you consider bad/boring/tedious/long/dumb/difficult then good for you, you might have something else to do in the meantime and you are using your time effectively and you care about your gaming experience, which is completely fine. If you consider that doing a dungeon that you absolutely despise is the best thing to do (time-wise or for any other reason), awesome, you are actually trying to do something you might have had a bad experience with because you had a party that wasn't careful/skilled enough to do and you are also using your time wisely.

Sadly, it's a matter of what dungeon you get and who you get in your party. I know it could be annoying but it is how it is.
