I only just began playing this game after giving up in 1.0 beta.
I have not had an issue at all with asking at every single new dungeon / Main Scenario / Primal /w/e, "Hey i'm new here, anything i should know?" on Zodiark.
Everyone has either told me it's straight forward, or about the mechanics involved.

Haven't met a single "ugh boot this noob" from anyone.

I give you props for creating a healthy environment, but I'm afraid you're one of the extinct players.

I go in expecting the worse mostly from higher duty dungeons mainly if I'm on WHM because while I can SR I don't always want to. Now when I go in lower ones or storyline ones I expect there may be new people and have no issue with that and I'm happy and willing to help. I very much agree with the OP that if you're specifically looking to speed run than do so by creating you own group in PF or at least ask if it's alright with everyone when you enter the DF group. Remember you were once new yourself.
