Its not just 9 DET...its also SS you're losing. Which is also a flat DPS increase (since you *should* be constantly attacking your target to keep threat up...)
Contrary to popular belief, SS isn't terribly bad, and some jobs benefit from high SS greatly (WHM, BLM, PLD, MNK). PLD should also probably weigh SS more than most, since you can get more hits in a specific amount of time, whereas crit you are giving yourself a chance at more damage, and without insanely high Crit that chance is slim. PLD also have only one DoT, whereas classes with more/are heavily reliant on DoTs (SMN, DRG, BRD) will weigh SS less
The bold part. What? Determination benefits way more than SS ever does for Monk. Even crit beats out SS. Build what you want OP. I think people are overestimating what 1 Parry would do for you.
I've actually looked up MNK stat weights...guess what? Crit and SS have the exact same weight.
So no, Crit build are not greater than SS builds for MNK, unless there is more Crit than SS available on key DET or Acc pieces (that part I did not look up)
Yes, DET is better (as it is for just about every class), but Crit is not better than SS for MNK
And that 1 Parry is negligible. No question. Crit is often given more weight than it has (like from your post) and SS too little.
Actually no, Crit has a stats weight of 0.163 and SS has a stats weight of 0.157.
It's negligible but if given a choice between crit and SS, crit is the better way to go since SS creates TP problem, especially in long fights. That's what I meant in my statement, not saying crit is much better than SS like determination is.
