Also, that still doesn't change the issue. I don't want to burn 6 of my 8 hotbars for one class just because we can't hotbar macros or pet/companion actions.

The healer of love and justice! (Or the mad/insane/evil/berserk healer depending on who you talk to).
I've played healers for so long that I can heal in my sleep literally (People have seen me do it).
I like to do a bit of everything, but my preference is healing+support (until /that/ happens). FF14 title: Macro Queen
Uhh, what? I hotbar macros and pet commands all the time, I also have the class switchs on my bars instead of having to go to character select.
And yeah, I play on the PS4 as well.

I do too, but it still doesn't change that you can't do it via /crosshotbar set <action> <set number> <slot>
I had to...

True.
I dunno, I have 3 class specific bars, and the rest shared, one of the shared bars is set up for all my class swaps, the class specific ones are setup with the class/job abilities like pet abilities and macros and such.
Say I'm crafting or something, and queue pops, swap to class bar hit the button for the class, and I'm switched over, no issues at all.

Yeah, but right now as it is, I'm using up over 1 bar for class swaps (granted, I could put the crafting classes away, but the convenience of being able to swap between when I want to make certain items is really nice). I've been hearing plenty of rumors about 3 more classes being added.True.

I like to have things and not need them over need them and not have them.
The reason I have so many hotbars being used is quite simple: As a healer, I'm often expected to do additional duties over just healing and DPS'ing. I'm expected, quite often, to mark targets, set up waypoints, memorize doors and mark them, debuff the enemy, put up shields, etc. And usually in rapid succession. Thus, I need hotbars that can do multiple tasks at the same time as well as hotbars that are specific to certain roles.
And seeing as how multiple parties have expected me to do these multi-roles... Needless to say, I am very low on hotbar space since I'm on the ps4. I mean, I don't know if these parties are just being lazy or if it is a legitimate expectation, but if it is what I'm expected to do, I intend to do my best.
I'm not asking for like the ability to do fraction seconds on macros even-that makes total sense to not have. Simply the ability to set stuff via chat command that you can already set.

Maybe I don't understand the problem fully.
I'm on PC but I use a gamepad and crosshotbars for all battle actions. I play WAR, WHM, MNK, and BLM.
While I don't use more than 3 hotbars per job, each job can have a unique set of up to 8 bars. You can also choose if you want certain bars shared with all jobs or if you want to keep some independent.
Additionally you can set it to cycle through only specific bars when pressing R1, and you can split bars up to be used depending on whether your weapon is out or not. It can be set up to be very versatile.
One last note, although with regular hotbars you get 10 bars and only 8 with crosshotbars, the latter actually has more total slots since normal hotbars accommodate 12 abilities while each crosshotbar holds up to 16.

You get effectively less though since with hotbars, you get 120 at any given time while with crosshotbars, you only have 16+16=32 at most. So while crosshotbar gets 128, the effective value is actually lower.Maybe I don't understand the problem fully.

To really understand the issue, you really need to play as a scholar where you need to place your pet and sometimes you need to control it manually, especially when you need skills to activate in a specific order to get a nice combo going, but also need it to happen fast (thus you can't simply macro it) and might need to shorten the combo on the fly (less effect but when you really need something right away...) And as I mentioned above, combined with the extra tasks I'm often expected to do, I tend to need a great variety of setups, especially when dealing with roulette (Can't exactly tell my party to wait five minutes while I set up my hotbars for that dungeon every time)
