Honestly, I think a more accessible FFXI with updated systems that retains the setting and charm of the original with updated graphics WOULD make bank.

FFXI maintained a 500k playerbase for quiet a long time which was about average for a pay to play (We do not count WoW its not normal its the mutant exception not the rule)
Thats MAINTAINED by the way, not Peaked for two weeks then dropped like a rock.
Also the graphics while aged on the Ps2 could look rather spectacular on the PC and Xbox360 and were above par for the entire time I played it which was up until recently. but those are opinions.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

See this is uninformed right here. Based of the data from the mmo sub charts
Pre Wow there was 2 games with more subs then FFXI at thier peak (Yes FFXI beat EQ). Lineage and Lineage II, then wow came out and obviously beat them... And guess what FFXI held the 4th spot until 2009 with Aion which holds the 4th spot right now.
So I hate to say it but FFXI was one of the highest subed games in history and it holds the record for maintaining that capped sub count longer then any other mmo.
