Considering hanging up my shield due to high level haters.....

So, the high level players in this game are starting to grind me! Don't get me wrong, by no way is this the majority, but the minority tends to be very vocal and belittling.

To give some context, I'm an ilvl 62 tank, and enjoyed levelling up my character immensely. This game has been great, but now I am into the high level dungeons and primary, I am getting a sour taste on my mouth about the whole game.

When did it become mandatory to watch YouTube videos before a fight? What happened to enjoying the game and learning the mechanics? Are these people who only started playing games after YouTube was invented?

I am in no way a terrible player, nor am I the best. I always tell people if I am new to a fight and most of the time, people are fine. But these people who vilify you for being new are ruining it for me. And I am sure I am not the only one.

When did games become about speed running and kicking people after one wipe. Why.... Dear god.... Why? Haha.

Maybe I'll just hang up my sword and shield and craft instead. Am I the only one who finds this happens?

Because no one want to wipe for hours upon hours when they already know the entire fight just so someone can take their time to learn it. The design is bad because there's many unforgiving mechanics and rotations.

Back then, boss mechanics usually consisted of one thing you had to do and that was it. No gaolers, no spiny plumes, no nails just a.) tank stand on foot b.) no-one else stand in front of it.

The main issue is that most people already know the mechanics and don't want to have to go through them every single time.

You are doing yourself and the rest of a group a disservice if you go in knowing nothing. You aren't going for world first or anything. The info and guides on how to do boss fights are out there, its better to read up beforehand then go in clueless and wipe the group a bunch and make everyone else angry because you don't know what to do. This isn't a single player game where not not reading guides and learning at your own pace is perfectly fine, when you constantly wipe the group due to not knowing what to do you waste 7 other people's time not just your own.

Go in prepared as possible that is what I always do.

    You got a few options:
A: play with people who don't mind a learning group or just chillax.
B: Watch the youtube videos, practice, then join the experienced less patient groups
C: Be like me and understand the mechanics on first/second go and play like I've already done it a thousand times.

I agree with this to an extent. I think tanks should have some idea of what a dungeon has in store since they pretty much make a break a dungeon run. Is it fair? Not really, but unless you're in a group of all new players a lot people aren't going to want to take the time to hold your hand...especially at end game where everyone has already run these dungeons 100+ times.

No you're not the only one. You'll always find that one elitist bugger that likes to speedrun everything, do HM and EX primals with no wipes and generally dislikes anyone who doesn't preform to their expectations. The first time I did Titan HM the only help I had before doing it was my friend whom I was in a Skype call with and an image guide to Titan's rotations and bomb positioning. I wanted to learn the fight as we went and have fun doing it. We did just fine, but the MT hated the fact that me and one other damage were new to the fight and tried to kick us after the first wipe. The only reason we weren't kicked was because the MT was the only person not in our FC and got kicked himself for harrassing us... only for him to join us again and continue to be a dick to us new players :/

You're the tank man, you have a lot of power in instances. If you don't want to speedrun then say you don't want to speedrun. If they kick you for that, laugh at them because you have near instant que time and can just join another dungeon and probably do three dungeons before they get a new tank XD Laugh at them more after you report them for abusing the vote-kick system.

I've really never enjoyed playing any game like it's a job. And trust me, the majority of the time, I do team up with like minded players. An instance of what I spoke about was a HM primal, where we only needed to pick up two DPS, to complete the party. I informed them I was new, and they ripped into me without even a seconds pause.

Our party offered them the chance to leave, which they refused and just continued to hurl abuse. While I brushed it off and we eventually got there. I was very taken aback by the whole situation.

Personally will be trying to team up a full party from here on out. It just worries me that, this is what mmo gaming has become.

In all honesty, the over dramatic thought of wiping for "hours" is part of the problem. Think about it for a bit. If the player can't figure out the mechanics of a generic dungeon fight after a few wipes (which isn't anywhere near a single hour), even with the help of party members, chances are a video would not have helped prevent the multiple wipes/deaths. It would have lessened it... maybe... but the initial outcome would likely be the same. For a quick learner, the video may have prevented a wipe/death... or maybe just reduced it to once, but is it really that big of a deal to lose out on a few minutes? Clearly, a number of our peers think a few seconds of their time is equivalent in importance to finding cures for diseases, but we generally look at them like we would an obnoxious adult. Acknowledge they exist and don't expect anything meaningful from them for their entire life.
