Either way, the argument isn't really sufficient considering the GMs will not do anything about the abuse and players have to take an unjustified penalty.

I checked the Support FAQ or something like that in game the other day regarding vote-kick abuse. If you check it out it does clearly state they won't handle reports of vote-kick abuse based on differences in play style or viewing cutscenes, which in my opinion sucks... I read it that basically if the majority want you out they can get you out for any reason, so long as they aren't offensive or aggressive. I don't see that it's fair for the duty finder to be dominated by elitists who care only to grind tomes and dictate the run. 7 of 8 may want the speedrun, but that's only because 99 / 100 casual players are scared away from the duty finder by rude / intolerant players, or give up due to getting vote kicked every other run. Nice community! Gratz guys, enjoy dem tomes...

We're talking about CT, right? Just about every CT I've done, the alliance has totally facerolled it. The times that it wasn't facerolled had little to do with gear, but instead because of newbies that didn't understand the mechanics (not standing on the Atomos platforms, dropping Comets in the wrong places on KB, etc). It is easy to the point of being boring. Given that folks are clearly overgeared for CT, what is the harm in having a few of them (or heck, all of them) spiritbonding a few pieces? With any luck, it might add some actual challenge to the run.

I've never run CT in spiritbonding gear, but I've been considering adding a couple pieces due to the jump in price for DoH and DoL materia. I highly doubt it will do much to impact my performance in such an easy instance.

Well the first half is entirely opinion based and the second half is true, because you are being carried. Anything is easy and beatable in crafting gear if you just derp around letting seven other people do the work. It's like saying T5 is totally beatable in full crafting gear...because someone who bought a kill wore it.

First room, still have people positioning mobs the wrong way. Room two, people don't tend to stun/silence the eyes and Diras. First boss, people still over DPS the dragon. Room 4, with the platforms, that's actually going okay. Second boss was also. Third boss, people still don't take down the bombs in time.
The big difference though is they are not intentionally holding people back. You were wearing crafting gear in battle forcing your team mates to do more work than was necessary for your own personal gain. Clearly everyone has a big difference of opinion over this, but in my opinion you thoroughly deserved the kick*.

*Slight note, I didn't see it discussed whether they actually asked you to switch gear and you refused or not. If they didn't, although you were still in the wrong to me, the kick was a tad premature.

He didn't ask, he threatened to kick me if I didn't change gear. I was above ilvl requirements and played well all the same. I usually find, from experience, that someone in lesser gear that plays well, provides less work for everyone else than someone in higher gear with lesser skills. Just because I wasn't in i90 gear, that doesn't justify a kick.

Again, I carried myself with offensive cooldowns and when necessary, defensive. So I wasn't straining healers with extra cures. In Behemoth, standing there and clicking a tower isn't exactly putting your party in a tight spot, also while being one of the only tanks on a tower to attack the bombs as well as maintaining the tower. Taking the claws at the end, not very hard either.
