My idea is so that people don't get too shafted out of luck and lose ALL hope. There is a point where the grind might get tooo bad to be worth while and burn a person out. This sub-system would be a a built in safety, so that if you run a dungeon 200 times and don't get that last item yet, you don't get too discouraged as you are going to get the dungeon eventually. Plus, this would encourage players not to D/C or leave a dungeon if their item dropped on the first mid boss.
