    A solution to crafting gear in endgame

    I've been reading the forums for some time now, and a recurring issue I see, Is that craters have a certain lack of need in true endgame raiding (I.e. second coil). My solution, is to change the way crafting gear works. Instead of having normal quality crafted i70/i90 gear be worse than dl/myth, make it equal. And then for high quality crafted gear, give it slightly higher stats, maybe equivalent to i95 or i100 at the most. This way, while raiders will still have the best gear, it gives crafters a true purpose in endgame and will bring Gil a purpose besides housing as well.

    Thoughts? Questions? It's just an idea, and maybe by some freak chance, the devs will see it and like and maybe make it happen. Thanks in advance for the responses.

    Some of the i90 pieces when Pentamelded will rival i110 pieces because the secondary stats will make up for how much of the primary stat you aren't getting for some jobs.

    E.g. I believe 3 crit and det(10 skill speed) is the equivalent to 1 dex for Bard, so if you find a piece where the added stats outweight i110 slightly, then you're golden

    After you slap 2-4 pieces of materia on the gear, it's pretty much that way now.

    HQ is too easy to make, nobody cares about NQ

    The sad thing about this is if they make HQ harder to make, then the prices for crafted gear will skyrocket and most people won't bother because crafted gear is only temporary. 3 star was like this for a bit until people figured out HQing even those is easy.

    Crafted gear always loses out. If it's not the stats, it's the price. It's sad but unlikely to change until SE reconsiders their stance on this.

    I crafted my own 3star gear for blm and pld, but I wont meld as I will just get dungeon drops that out class it.

    i would never of spent 3-4mil buying the stuff either,.. on the other hand spending 1mil to craft it and be done, bargain.!!

    the problem they have is they want people to stay active and saying you get better gear from dungeons helps them with that. us crafters will in all likelihood never craft better or equal gear to dungeon drops. and that makes it all very temporary. to the point of its not worth farming gil to buy for all the raid only players.

    I appreciate the responses, and while I agree that once melded the crafted gear rivals i110, it's not as good simply due to the base stats. As a DRG, it takes approximately 4-5~ crit or 3-4~ det to equal 1 str. I don't have any i110 gear currently and I don't have the time right now to check the actual base Stat difference, it would require a lot of melding just to make them on par. That's besides the fact that an i90 piece has secondary Stat caps of 34 (I'm pretty sure, but don't take that as fact) where an i110 piece can have 41+. And not only do you need to make up for the base stats, you have to make up for the secondary stats, which already have the potential to be higher, on the i110 gear. For example, the a astrum hose (unweathered) have 41 crit, which is only 7 higher than the crit on the saurian pants, but that can't be made up, and you could put det on it, to make up for it, but tthe cost would be astronomical. Plus, skill speed is only good to a point, so there's no real point to waste money melding it. So if you run out det/crit to meld, you only have accruacy. Which could be very beneficial if you're a little short on the acc cap, again, astronomical. The only real benefit of crafted gear right now, is the potential to have all 6 stats on it.
