Never played WoW but I been around the MMO hub for a while.

Game is alright it's blooming slowly but surely but there is, of course, lack of things and there is some problems.

    Disclaimer: Just my opinions.

    - I would like more casual stuff, that is coming soon so I won't have to worry about this. Sorry, doing CT/Bray HM weekly and I'm
not going to bother with coil right now...It seems more of a hassle. I like end-game at times but I don't always wanna fight lol.
It does drives me off a bit. I'm leveling different class/jobs so I'm enjoying it so far.

    - The battle system, as playing a DPS, I would like it to be a lot more faster than it is now. I keep hearing "ding ding ding" because I'm ready for my next action.
This won't be changed. :c They battle system feels a liiiil slow to me. I hate GCD. xD

    - Crafting seems to lost a role in this game. They said they'd re-vamp it but I dunno how they mean so I'll wait.

    - Do away with FATE's. Honestly, what was a good mechanic at first glance, turns out to be the end-all be-all of so much things. It's boring.
With that said, rehashing old things is not fun. Titan Legendary is probably next. No more please.

There's more but that's my thoughts. The game is pretty much generic and standard but I know it's getting better by the patch.
I'd say this is way more fun than 2.0. All you did there was AK and WP and I quit in like 2 months lol.
Comparing games, esp. one that is well over a decade years old is unfair. Give it time to grow it really is getting more fun.
Less "I'm bored" threads than it was in 2.0 that's for sure.

as a WoW vet, I think the number one thing FFXIV can and SHOULD improve on is server communication. The way the client and the server communicate everything (position, skills, everything) is THE worst I've ever seen in any MMO. And it's sad, seeing as the game is otherwise very good, there's enough content seeing as the game is still a pretty new MMO (not kidding, compared to other newly launched MMOs, FFXIV is in a very good place especially patched up now), and it's very enjoyable. (though PvP and crafting have room for improvement. But PvP's main downside comes from server communication as I've said). It pains me so, that such a thing is weighing the game down so much. I wish they'd work on it, as it's saddening to see that they haven't even mentioned working on it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look here for an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d9FTZ7C9yA This bs never happens in WoW and never did.

Not really. 3 months means you may have a basic grasp of the game's current expansion, but you'd need a while to have an idea of what to say. That's not even mentioning that 3 months is not enough time for one to develop a frame of reference.

Despite claims to the contrary, XIV's story is already ahead of WoW's. XIV's class design is in a bit of an odd place, though I think that's in part due to limited choices in-game.

The main issue I have is more with gear progression and what they're implementing as raids. I wasn't entirely overjoyed with the idea of relics, since less relics per tier = encouraging guilds to organize themselves. Raids should really be more than CT and Coil. Even at launch in my favorite WoW expansion, you had a decent amount of time to be spent raiding once you got to cap. Two/three days doing Naxxrammas, one day for Obsidian Sanctum and Eye of Eternity and getting control of Wintergrasp to do Vault of Archavon. Even more time if you're working on achievements (Sartharion+3, killing Malygos in under 6 minutes).

One could mention Coil and its turns, and I would agree if each turn was a separate dungeon with multiple bosses per turn instead of trash and one boss. I figured Coil would have been comparable to a multi-wing raid like Naxxrammas or Ulduar that was just so big it had to be cleared over the course of two or three days. Imagine my dissapointment when I heard people could clear it in an hour.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:

Flying mounts weren't the problem. Reducing the required level for a mount to 60 did more damage than the existence of the actual mounts. A gold nerf is understandable (had to grind lots of gold for your flying training). Nerfing the level reqs...not so much.

I had to go through a bunch of wikis to make sure I caught everything (or most). I found it much more interesting than what XIV has. The only interesting thing I saw was the last parts of the 1.0 storyline and the final part with the reset. Though, liking the story is just a matter of preference, so whatevs.

I agree with raid thing though. I know the primals are suppose to be the other thing to do besides coil, but that's literally like 7 minutes or so and then that's over.

I generally found you were dead 99% of the time cause you aggro'd something else while running away from the first mob. Then you'd aggro something else, followed by another.

i can agree with you on the lore part. Though i can live without it, I like tidbits spread out and hidden in the game, lore stuff that makes the game more immersive, sets up mystery (books, NPC dialogue, whatever). FFXIV's story is fine though, I'd just like to see some more in-depth lore tbh.

I personally think this story is the worst of all Final Fantasy games. I'm not saying is downright bad...but it's pretty...well not that good.
It's either that or just simply not my cup of tea, y'know? I dunno, I'm not liking the story much but I do like the crafting and class/job story quests.

I also wish my character could friggin' talk or have more options. GW2 spoiled me with having options.
Would love if my mom or brother dad anyone.. or whatever was apart of the calamity and stuff and I finally found the grave or something and did something amazing before it all. Just something that ties me into the world and have a past than some random cat chick adventurer of light whatever. I feel like an errand woman lol.

They even stated [NPC's] that they are sorry for taking you go on random quests so often.

No it was flying, The ability to choose what fought you took so much outta the game. It made ganking just... ugh. Before if you wanted to gank some low level players, you risked them calling in their guild or a high level player of their own. Now... well you could still call in your guild, but they are just going to sit there on their flying mount and wait for every one to go away. Ruined open world PVP for me. 100% ruined it for me.
