    Should I buy the Heavy Wolfram Set?

    I have recently bought the full Surian set for MNK and melded it which cost me around 2,5mill and am happy about that since my main build is BLM that i spend soldiary on.

    Now I think about buying the full set of Heavy Wolfram for PLD/WAR and meld it with ACC and at least +70 on the head, body, gloves, legs and feet since that is what the full Allagan set got + belt and i have successfully melded on +21 acc on helm that is the capp for selling reasons so getting 70+ on set would be easy.

    I think the set is kinda ugly but still would be cool to have around for show and for second coils because the need of acc.

    What do you fellow tanks think? go for it or not?

    Here is a link to a picture of the set.

I'm able to craft it so I was looking into it but once properly melded, Skillspeed is the only stats that would increase by a significant amount. To me, it's by no mean a good alternative to ilvl100 or ilvl90 gear unless you have ridiculous amount of money and can't afford the time to farm myth/allagan gear.

    Certain pieces could be close to BiS but not the full set.

    Strictly speaking about stats, Wolfram Set is really good.

    They are each strictly better than its Allagan or Myth counterparts. It allows you to meld whatever stats you need. It gets you to the Accuracy cap or it allows you do ditch Accuracy if you have too much of it.

    Secondary stats may be crap, but crafted i90 gives so much more of it than the other i90 equivalent. The sheer volume of stats make it worthwhile, if you can afford it.

    If we put em together.

    Heavy Allagan minus belt

    Determination = 35
    Parry = 87
    Accuracy = 70
    Critical Hit Rate = 0
    Skill Speed = 0

    Heavy Wolfram minus belt

    Determination = 48
    Parry = 36
    Accuracy = 0
    Critical Hit Rate = 51
    Skill Speed = 69

    So clearly the Wolfram set got more DPS potential since more determination, more critical hit rate and more skill speed which can be good to keep enmity but less parry for damage reduction. (atm i have ACC + 69 melded on)

    Yesterday I was in a Ifrit hard fight I got full STR for accessories slot so I would DPS and stun and with sword oath I got enmity off the MT a WAR at same average lvl by just doing normal rotation minus flash, shield lob and provoke. I think the set has good potential to ad up your damage and if heals are not a problem that potential is worth taking and be used in situations as needed

    With tanks I don't think you'll see the kind of gains for your gil that you did with your monk. I replaced 4 i90 pieces on my monk with melded Saurion, and it added 30-40 dps to my parse on turn 8, got me reliably over 400, and monk is my alt class.

    If you stack determination/crit/skillspeed, your damage improvement will be less than a dps because stat improvements for dps are going to be amplified by their cooldowns and higher potency / frequency attacks. Tanks might be able to add an extra 20 dps where a dps class could add 40, again not as good value for money.

    All of the pieces are fantastic for adding accuracy to as filler pieces so that you don't have to compromise with inferior iLevel gear or eat accuracy food. If it were my money, that's probably the only time I'd spend it on crafted tank gear. Either way, it's your money, and you really can't go wrong with the crafted gear.

    When will people learn.. Yes, you will take the boss off of a warrior if he's tanking properly meaning he'll alternate through the Storm's combos.

    When you spam halone, only stopping when you need to stun, you will take it eventually. I doubt you'd take it if he'd started with infuriate>unchained>berserk though..

    When you say "normal rotation minus flash, SL and provoke", you mean those are in your rotation normally? Shield lob you'll only use to pull the boss, provoke when switching is needed. So unless you wanted to emphasize that your "normal" rotation was enough to take over the boss, you're misinformed. xD
