MMOs are also about forming an effective hall of fame for your achievements, and these items would stand as a testament to the achievements and abilities of the group who did it, long after the content is top tier.why ?
If the game was finished and if new releases of content would never happen again, why not ? But in MMOs, there will be new content forever (ideally), and older content will be nerfed to the ground.
As someone said, what is T5 or even T9 exactly ? In 2 years, the overgearing will be so high that you'll be able to stomp it without even knowing a single mechanic.
And if you look at it, world first in T9 (BG) already got a fame reward, aka a word from the producer..
Ive played quite a bit of MMOs. I really havent seen ingame rewards for server firsts.
There was only one or two "rewards" one was by basically who can log in the fastest, and the other was who can spend more money.
Not everyone is on equal ground. Seeing achievements that are impossible to get actually discourage me from playing.
One game solved that problem by actually hiding the achievements after someone got it.
Yet you're never going to get most achievements. Few people will be part of a pre-nerf T9 clear, I am sure. Were you part of a pre-nerf T5 clear? To expect all achievements to be achievable by everyone - to the very worst and most terrible of players - just completely undermines any sense of challenge or accomplishment in a game.
Which is why if you give reward(s) for clearing content when it is at its pinnacle...hmmm no ? An achievement is supposed to last. There is no meaning in such a thing for content downed to hell by nerfing and heavy overgearing over the time.
Unless they implement something like this...All you can have is YOUR pride knowing you got it first (or so you think), without smashing it in other people's face with exclusive titles or anything like that.
That said, given the extremely carebear and inept playerbase that this game seems to attract, they would never dare implement something like this in case they hurt some carebear's precious feelings.

They're as pointless as any other achievement you can come up with, but people like trophies. They may motivate some people who like them to try out stuff they would never consider otherwise though.
This thread has convinced me, you absolutely do not need unique rewards for server firsts at all. Apparently even the mere existence of progression threads cause posters to get their panties in a twist and become vexed, an achievement or title is just overkill. I don't really understand how you can get irritated by others having fun through friendly competition, different strokes for different folks.
Do you get bothered by what other people consider fun?
Sorry but all I see in your posts is a desperate need of attention. "Watch me watch me I did this !! Watch me !!"

Progression team have their playground, with their threads and other stuff. They can do all the things they want as long as they don't smash it in the faces of people who have no interest in such a competition.
I mean, sure you did amazing stuff, clearing it faster than anyone with iL lower than what the average populace is capable of. But what's the point ? This is already an achievement, why do you so desperately need a title/minion/stuff for that ?
For what it's worth, the only ones who deserves anything are the world first. And guess what ? they got congratulations from Yoshida. I thinks that's a good enough reward. If you want it too, you gotta move and make much better than "server first"
I see nothing wrong in good players being rewarded.
How would having a unique title or mount or furnishing be "smash[ing] it in the faces of people who have no interest..."?There is a difference between Player competition and achievements.

Why do you need to be rewarded for anything? Because this is a game which purportedly rewards accomplishment.I mean, sure you did amazing stuff, clearing it faster than anyone with iL lower than what the average populace is capable of. As opposed to every underachieving baddy who can't do a fight to save his/her life who are accomplished CEOs and philanthropists in real life, obviously.Well i have even seen people bragging about having server's first Zantetsuken and stuff, can't blame them, they're in deperate need for any form of recognition and fame because they don't have either IRL.
hmmm no ? An achievement is supposed to last. There is no meaning in such a thing for content downed to hell by nerfing and heavy overgearing over the time.
I could agree in an horizontal progression MMO, where the content would always remain top tier. That's not the case here. You just have to see how some groups are stomping on T5 already without mastering anything. Some groups even barely manage to kill Asclepius in time with 15% echo.
Saying "I cleared it before twisters nerf" or anything is meaningless. You cleared it, they cleared it as well, that's the only truth. All you can have is YOUR pride knowing you got it first (or so you think), without smashing it in other people's face with exclusive titles or anything like that.
