From what I got by that post is that she's under the impression that gay people are more prone to being "in-your-face" about their sexuality, as if it were some predisposed characteristic of homosexuality. That they are held to some higher standard and that every time a gay couple decides to involve themselves in pda, it can't be for any other reason than being gay. This is what oppresses them as people, that whenever their significant other goes in for a kiss in public they worry whether or not it will perpetuate a stereotype. That's like saying whenever a black person robs a store, it's because they're black.

It's just people generalizing over stereotypes, which is quite honestly ridiculous. I'm a straight woman, but even I can see how silly people can get with their comments.

A lot of people feel this way, unfortunately...but it's not because gay people are any more likely to be exhibitionists than straights...it's because our culture accepts people shoving their straightness in everyone's faces as a matter of course, so it's not something you notice.

It's kinda like how you're more likely to notice a redhead in a crowd than a brunette, or someone wearing bright yellow than beige...your brain registers it as unusual, and draws your attention to it.

You don't have all the information then, where I come from if a person "shoves their straightness in someone's face" they usually get a restraining order, jail time, and have to register as a sex offender.

Derail the topic? Firstly, I never said that she only disliked when "gay" people did it, I said she's suggesting that gay people do it more often; which she says with her own words in the first two sentences of her post -- and then she goes on to say "Gay people feel the need to "show off" as a way of "rebellion." -- That's her singling out and generalizing a group of people based off their sexuality -- it's not about how I perceived her statement, it's about what she explicitly said; It would be like me saying "What race do I see robbing stores more often? Black people, because they're most violent race!" When being black doesn't make people violent and being gay doesn't suddenly make people rebellious, or lurid -- It's perpetuating a stereotype that quite frankly, isn't true.

Everyone is responsible for their own actions as individuals, regardless of race, gender, sexuality or creed.

And lastly, if anyone is derailing the subject it's you by attempting to split hairs and defend someone's post based off some straw-grasping argument over semantics. (Not to mention, not actually even trying to come up with any counter points beside "not ah!") I'm also quite confident that you're a troll, considering that 90% of your post history is you arguing with everyone over the most puerile topics.

Yes because you don't like what I'm saying I must be a "troll" cause I posted 2 comments in this whole thread. But I can derail the topic for you if you want since I'm a "troll".

I am a disabled woman IRL with MD (Muscular dystrophy if you didn't catch that) and I play this game to stay in contact with ppl and yes the forums have people and I share my opinions with but apparently my voice doesn't matter so guess staying in my house away from ppl like you is the best choice I made in life. Good thing you have a computer screen to hide behind right? Cause I'm sure if you saw me irl you would be like everyone else and be pity-nice to me cause I'm disabled.

Idc what you believe irl or anyone else for that matter but these have nothing to do with SSM in FFXIV (which yes SSM should and probably will be added). Why wouldn't I like what you're saying I wonder? Perhaps because you approached me (And almost everyone else.) with sarcasm instead of responding like a mature adult. I honestly don't care who you are in real life, or why you troll the forums -- I discern who you portray yourself here as a person, disabled or not you cannot go around popping wisecracks at people and then when you're called out on it, spin the wheel and use your disability as some sort of defensive crutch. (Why on earth you're even bringing up something as irrelevant as your disability is beyond me.) So a tad bit of advice, if you don't want people to be jerks to you then you can try not being an utter douche to them first.

I can say that we're in agreement with one thing though, I'm pretty glad that I don't have to deal with you in person, because you're nothing but a self-centered brat.

Ok this is going a bit far we are both adults here & I have no idea why you think I'm trolling but lets try and start off on a better foot shall we? I don't want to be the kind of poster on here that I hate & I don't want to be in a bad mood & I don't want to sit here thinking I put someone I don't know in a bad mood for something so dumb. We are better then that (no sarcasm), I was not trying to call you or anyone out for that matter on anything. The only point I was trying to make is everyone keeps bringing up RL stuff on SSM in this game & it doesn't apply. I used your post to another poster as an example & I'm sorry if I came off as being a douche but its hard to express what you mean via internet. You read what I wrote in the wrong way and same for me with what you were trying to say.

So, I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression of me & what I was getting at. We both got carried away in the heat of the topic so lets just stop being the typical posters on here & just leave it at that.

Edit: Also Kyah, you're right I didn't actually give any sort of opinion on the matter and just kind of threw my two cents in on what others were saying. So I will add to the thread instead of getting all huffy puffy like I did.

I feel like SSM is a necessary feature if you plan on adding Marriage in game cause it goes beyond the LGBT community. Like others have said many ppl play their opposite gender just cause. Doesn't seem fair to exclude them (or anyone for the matter) from content based on the character they chose.

That'd be like SE being like "Only Hyur can get married!!"
