Ya I was going to post this, the article is wrong, it's going to be more than 850k because yoshida said Hiroshi could not afford it. He went onto say, with all the extra money going in with challenges and bonuses people Gil should start going up.I'm not going through the whole thread, but I watched the interview live and that article is wrong.
This is basically what happened.
someone asks about personal housing
Yoshida, (assistant director) Hiroshi talk about personal housing
Hiroshi: I've dumped most of my gil into the FC chest, I don't have a lot left. Maybe 850k gil.
Yoshida: That's not going to be enough.... It won't be as expensive as FC housing though.
Or if you don't believe me, here's the source.
I am guessing that you are one of the many people that didn't notice during the stream that he was a level 1 LNC (I think it was LNC. I know it wasn't PLD, and it was level 1), but was wearing PLD AF. Nothing in the stream could be taken as "This must be how things are going to be." My LNC is level 35, and I still can't wear PLD AF, so I must be doing something wrong.
My point is; NOTHING was SAID about pricing. People just made crazy assumptions based on something they saw in a video that was intended ONLY to show how the house purchasing process worked. Just like I made a crazy assumption about LNC being able to wear PLD AF (I obviously didn't assume this. It was just to make my point).

I figured as much. But there's a huge disparity between 850k and 625 million, or 850k and 62.5 millionI'm not going through the whole thread, but I watched the interview live and that article is wrong.

"Oh don't worry it won't be as expensive as FC housing"
Oh but I am worried, because I feel even if I get up to 6 million by the time 2.3 comes out it STILL won't be enough

Ooh boy... if the English magazine mis-interpreted this to be "housing will be 850k", SE needs to step up NOW and make the clarification!! ><' Otherwise this is gonna be a shit storm like when they released the FC housing prices.
The servers obviously can't handle alot of housing so to keep too many people from buying houses it has to be priced where not many can afford one. It was said recently somewhere that the average player has about 2 million gil. So expect personal housing to cost more than that. Probably minimum of 5 million or if it's like FC housing where the prices drop steadily it could start as high as 15 million I would guess.
Still cheaper than FC housing.
MMO development rule #5: Don't be cheap with servers. Eventually it'll come back and bite you on the assThe servers obviously can't handle alot of housing so to keep too many people from buying houses it has to be priced where not many can afford one. I just... what. SE, stop doing housing wrong, ffs. Personal housing should be as easy access as possible. Take a page out of so many other MMOs' books and let everyone unlock a small, free one, and then if they want some "long term goals", they can pay more to upgrade. Or, hell, put those GC ranks/seals or beast tribe dailies to use and put housing upgrades behind those! But everyone from low level to high level, regardless of GC rank or gil income, should have access to a starter house.
