I'm going to be blunt & say the system should be been designed to be at release & used the common mmo vanity style of seperate list.
(Refer DCU vanity system - not only does it let you change gear looks at will but it lets you change colour so even if everyone wears the same pieces they all look different.)
just something to keep in mind if you guys do ever release another mmo.

I agree I can't use the cavalry/onion/direwolf/wolfram masks because they clip every single hairstyle male miqo'te have & the default hairstyle has my hair cover the forehead protector which is the coolest part of these masks imo. Another thing that annoys me is how blm & drg weapons clip their af. The worst part by far however is that the hands of male miqo'te tend to clip parts of certain chest peices like the skirt for the armor of light & the bladed belt attached to the drg af chest.

Can people who care please like this guys post!? It's on the 2nd page. It might help.

I think SE does a really good job with this game. However, the gear in this game is "lazy", but that's another discussion. I would love if there was a person checking the gear (and hairstyles as some just clip right through gear) for clipping.

While I can obviously only guess at how the dev team implemented the gear system in this game, I'm thinking the reason that multiple-slot gear is so difficult is the fact that those pieces ARE just a piece of armor that extends further than it should. So, Darklight Flanchard, for instance, are leg pieces that go beyond the ankles and over the feet as well. So, the trouble arises that if you glamour something then you get the appearance of someone who's wearing Darklight Flanchard and ALSO wearing boots. A clipping nightmare.

If this is the situation, it would be nice if we could just render the gear on those overwritten slots invisible. And, actually, this is already an option - players have had the ability to toggle visibility on their headpiece from the very beginning. Glamour needs the ability to permanently set this toggle to "off", and also the ability to toggle any other gear slots necessary to "off".

Perhaps this is more of a programming nightmare than I think, but the fact that head-toggle already exists leads me to believe that the foundations are there, at least.

I gotta be honest, I know there are many ways to do a thing but in regards to the vanity system. The better choice would have been to go with a separate Equipment window that followed the same class/job/level rules as the original but simply overlapped the first in regards to appearance. In addition the prism system is just entirely too convoluted and I dare say unnecessary. If they wanted to really charge people for glamoring items they should have just gone with 1 item and let all the crafters make it. Having 40 or so different crystals means I need to sit down and craft/buy (goodluck buying just one) a single crystal for each specific glamor and it makes the entirety of the process an big pain in the rear.

I'm in agreement with people who are mentioning the glamour gear being able to 'overwrite' the other slots - this seems like it should be easy enough to implement (coming from someone who hasn't the foggiest idea about these things!)

How I imagine it to work would be:
I want to glamour, let's say Odin armour over my WAR myth armour. Go to do the glamour, it pops up with a warning: 'Using this glamour will overwrite the visuals for the following gear slots: <insert applicable slots here> do you wish to continue?'
Using the glamour then allows you to wear your other gear as normal, so hands, feet, whatever, but the Odin armour has the priority when it comes to the visuals.

    That'd be quite cool imo!

100% this. It's obvious the prisms exist solely as a way to involve crafters and create a niche in the game economy, but convoluted is exactly the word I would use. It makes it way more complicated than it needs to be, especially when all grades of prism require the same materials to make anyways. If nothing else grades should be done away with and the only separation is by which crafting class. Preferably though, I would also highly favor an entirely separate equip window for vanities.

It'd be nice if you guys created a better standard for gear-rigging.

For example, a person pointed out how their nose clips through the Evenstar Coat's frilly collar.

I understand this is often inevitable and hard to prevent at times, but I think it's pretty epidemic in a lot of gear.

Just task ONE person with going through different gear combinations & devising a standard, then proposing ways to 'tilt' certain rigs to fix the clipping epidemic.
    THIS.

I have never seen so much clipping in an MMO. I have seen items that clip through THEMSELVES in this game. How does a game with such stunning visuals otherwise manage to have so much clipping? It makes me so sad
