I'd like to add that whenever you add FF11-specific terminology, you're already setting the expectation that this is going to be another "make this more like FF11" thread. If you want a constructive thought, you should either use terminology that is going to be recognized by people that didn't play the game, or at least go through the trouble of explaining what it is and why it is good.

"More Life to the environment," is about the most vague thing I've read all day. You have to realize that most readers are going to have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Scrolls sound like a terrible idea that won't do anything but make the class more hassle than it is worth. It literally adds nothing to the class itself. Why would you suddenly add a roadblock to a skill just for the sake of adding a roadblock? O_o

Also, you aren't doing anyone any favors by attacking Gilraen because they don't agree with you; you are sounding more like a whining brat than anything, and what could have been a productive thread is probably going to be derailed brutally. Not Liking FF11 = You Suck is going to make it very hard for anyone to take you seriously.

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of something similar to Notorious Monsters (NMs), as long as that ridiculous claim system wasn't around.

I don't think Materia would have any use. It would probably go about as far as the Skill Points that we currently have; you are probably not going to get any worthwhile bonus, and it will really just be another thing that will cause people to scrutinize you because of your gear. Also, since so many fights have instant-death mechanics, changing your stats around a bit isn't really going to have any significant impact, imo. It really won't do much but gimp you in the end.

The first being that something like new abilities/skills essentially make that materia a mandatory thing. Unless it were simply cosmetic, that is. When it comes to stats and abilities, customization does not exist in MMORPGs no matter how much we like to dream it possible. It just... isn't going to happen in those situations. The other reason being that you would essentially have the exact same situation as the scrolls in FFXI. Want to be a DPS? No ones going to take you unless you buy this expensive/important materia for your weapon.
Not quite, in FFXI you couldn't have your most basic spells if you didn't buy them(Cures, Raise, Sleep II, etc.), and knowing this, people would game the system and charge many millions of gil for spells like Raise III, and stuff.

These skills would have to be skills that the players could live without, like perhaps a long CD off GCD attack, or something similar to the PVP skill that removes status ailments on long CD. Things that can be useful, but aren't needed.

I don't mind Duty Finder, but travelling between cities should at least be a slight chore. Even other MMOs have something like the Chocobo Porter as the fastest travel, a minute or 2 to move between camps.

Because honestly, I loved teleporting at the start, but now I realized it destroyed any semblance of a MMO world, the world feels so small, so lifeless, I will have no problem forgetting FFXIV and moving on to the next MMO when all it is is a themepark. But thinking back to FFXI I have tons of memories, the first trip to Jeuno, travelling between cities, or heading up north and Yuhtunga jungle. Even the crag teleports at least dropped you off 5-10 mins away from the city.
They'd need to make the environment something to at least be worthwhile to be if they were to make travel more time consuming. One could argue that the current way the game looks is great... and that's fine (though us 1.0 folks would definitely argue otherwise), but it doesn't give the players anything redeeming like that when the zones are so compact and uneventful/harmless. There's no NMs that you might happen to come across, no lush landscape to choose your preferred path to the next zone, no danger or threat of death, etc. There's little to no redeeming qualities to the current environment that would justify long travel.

Yeah, I remember XI pricing and methods. We used to run the BCNMs for some of those scrolls, like Erase and R3. Many of the really important ones, however, were quested for or were relatively cheap to purchase. The cures, for example, were generally cheap and not unreasonable to expect people to have. R2 was fine with most players, as R3 really was ridiculous in price. R3 was basically a status symbol spell for a while. Unlike materia though, where the outcome is random from spiritbinding, you could at least try to obtain those scrolls with some degree of success... usually. If anything, you would profit from other drops for the most part.

If the skills were something minor, then yeah, no biggy at all. But if they did any sort of damage or anything that could improve endgame kills, it'd essentially become mandatory to get specific ones lol. That's our MMO peers for yah.

NM's and HNM's are bad ideas it will just encourage bot fests.

However incorporating open world bosses which require a large amount of players in a forced spawn environment I am up for this. Don't even say we have fates for this its extremely poorly integrated, I am talking about earning spawn items and spawning bosses who drop valuable loot and gear and making it hard enough for people to need to switch out dead party members.

And to clarify again Odin and Behemoth are poorly integrated fates don't mix the two things together.

    FIX WEAKNESS

Weakness in FFXIV is completely backwards, you should be rewarded for fighting until the end and punished for giving up and wiping. Why would I try to win against that extra mob ADD or recover from a death of a party member, when raising punishes you with a 2 min weakness? When it's much easier to just wipe and not even have to run all the way back to where I was due to shortcut teleports, and the mobs don't respawn either!

If anything wiping should hit you with a 5-10 min weakness that severely weakens you, thus making progression slower. This would encourage people to play more seriously and it's a lot more fun when everyone's trying harder. I had a lot more fun in FFXI when we got extra ADDs and we slept them and tried to survive against all odds. Then when you come out of it and win, with MP at 0 and everyone is exhausted, you get this sense of euphoria and celebrate, lots of good memories surviving these situations myself.

NOTE: this shouldn't be for trials though, where you are just fighting a boss.

I was attacked? Must have been edited out. I agree that the game world seems sterile. Alot of the things that made 1.0 interesting like the mob interaction, open dungeons and superficial NMs would be nice to see again. And some things from 1.0 really shouldn't have changed. I do so miss the old sprites, they felt a better fit and, if they were being removed as a field mob they should have at least been reused for arcanist so Summoner could have had Carbuncle or used with Scholar instead of Eos (I love you Eos, but you don't really fit as a summon). But pulling mechanics from XI raw, like spell scrolls and HNMs, doesn't really make anything better thematically or systemically.

Here Only reason there were so many claim bots was because all the game files on 11 were client side 14 its all server side
but there will be bots if they are here or not
