havnt gathered shards in forever but when I do I always go to the crystals locations and run a circle between the 2 crystal nodes and the one double shard node, this way i get both types at pretty much even as I tend to use the triple gather ability on crystals as there more useful to me.

even if you don't need crystals now you will in the future, and a lot of them. I did sell of half of what I gathered though to make gil when I needed it,

Yup, confirmed this myself yesterday. Not sure how I got it into my head that only one type of node worked for the achievement, but once I did I never doubted it again until now. Doesn't help that the help text on the achievements is misleading.

I farm 120 shards every 50 mins on my retainers. Haven't had to buy shards since ventures came, and my retainers are always 20/20 x 4 with crafted stuff.

How are you getting this many shards from your retainers? The cap is 15x Shards per 60min. If you have 4 retainers (Max) you couldnt get more than 60 shards per hour.

Once you hit lvl 50 on retainer and equipp it to have high iLVL or gathering stats it will decrease time to 50 minutes and increase the number of the items returned. You can laso have more than 2 retainers - either by purchaing additional or by having alts.

Interesting thanks for the confirmation. Do you know how many shards we max out at? i60 for example? I would love if they returned 25 shards per venture. Putting us at 100 Shards per 50min. Much more reasonable imo.

My 25 Botanist retainer pulls in 30 shards every 40 minutes. I wonder why people say it needs level 50 and high level gear?
