I tried a few times, I get cocky remarks or get ignored examples.

CT. Tank wasn't listening wipes us twice moving skeletons, I tell him to move them farthest from dragon he says "BACK OFF" stuff like this.

another was today, doing roulette to finish my log, trying to tell this tank to stop beating the turtle to get it into the green mist he ignores not just me but the blackmage as well of course we failed.

I tried a few other times to explain a few things new players don't wanna listen at all become hard headed mouthy and try to trash talk.

So I decided to sit back now and let the chaos unfold i am tired of trying to offer help.

Videos aren't meant to replace genuine experience. Think of them as giving you hints and tips. You still need experience but with hint/tips you might be able to pick it up a lot faster than someone who goes in totally blind. Good players are more willing to help new players that are prepared. It shows that they are somewhat serious in trying to make good attempts at learning/beating the fight. Compared to someone that shows up expecting everyone to teach them while they learn slowly and undergeared.

Agreed; but there's some treatment in this topic like "go look at a video" is supposed to substitute for actual experience or even are that informative, which is what I object to.

I have watched MrHappy's videos on Youtube for most content, and he goes through the fights slowly and detailed... After watching a video a couple of times (yes, a couple of times if necessary), I know pretty much all the mechanics in the fight. If I then don't know exactly what to do for my specific job, I search for a video showing the fight from DRG (for example) perspective. That video(s) doesn't have to be detailed in how the fight works, I just use it to see a more detailed view of what to expect as that specific job.

I then start by doing it through DF if possible, and do the best I can. After a couple of DF runs, with pretty good results for being first tries, I can then move on the using PF.

I kind of refrained from explicitly saying this in one of my replies above, but I really can't follow his videos at all. I remember giving up completely when I couldn't do T4 after watching his video repeatedly.
I agree with Garlyle in that a video alone isn't enough, and I agree with you in that DFing is good, but tips from other players in the same party help immensely and go hand in hand with both videos and constant practice.

Friendly, helpful people are few and far between, doesn't mean that everyone is a jerk, they're just not going that extra mile all the time.

I take pleasure out of helping new players, I always give a new tank advice when I'm leveling a new class through low level duty finder, I always tell new players to feel free to watch the cut scenes in main scenario dungeons, let's face it, watching them at the Inn kind of takes away from the final showdown with Ultima for the first time.

New people need to band together and practice until they're ready. That's how everyone must learn all the new contents when they first came out.
I managed to get my first clear on Titan EX last night with 1 dead healer and 3 Dragoons as DPS (4th one was dead I think) ^_^

I like helping out if people say they're new and want advice. I don't mind if takes a couple of wipes before they finally learn how to do it, this is a game after all and wiping is part of the fun. Some people tend to forget that and just want to do the content as fast as possible, like the game is some kinda job they have to finish as efficiently as possible. I think it should be that way, people should play dungeons for the funsies, not for the reward in the end, thats just a bonus!

Regarding the watching video discussion, I would never watch a video before I tried a fight, I don't want to spoil the fight for myself. I'd rather learn by playing. And so far it's worked out fine, I have done T1 and T2 and I've taken down garuda extreme. (As a healer it's easy to make a mistake, for instance T1, if a tank dies we're screwed). Watching a video before a fight should never be a requirement in a game, don't you guys agree it's really silly?

I just joined the game about 2 weeks ago... All the fate's and dungeons I've done... Out of all of them, I only ran into one jerk. But karma sought him, as he [the ank]walked off the edge on Titan story mode. I am really loving this community... But then, I haven't reached end game... Seems every MMO has that elitist chain.

Everyone I've asked help from have been more than willing to explain anything/everything to me. If there's any elitist jerks, I just stop what I'm doing, and move on. I'm not an E-tard, MMO'S are meant to be fun... And some of these number crunchers make amazing MMO's like FFXIV not enjoyable. But there's far less elitists here than in WoW. Go post a question like this in wow. lol
