Lodestone is giving way too much information at this point, it's borderline dangerous.
I lived in Japan I know how it is, I know how it feels like to be a Gaijin living in Japan also when Gaijin's were treated like crap in the 80's. But I mean it's your game character info... come on... you're not giving your real address, real name. If you posted some info that shows your real name, real info in your lodestone blogs then it's that persons responsibility for posting that stuff. Another problem with the JP's is they get stressed out too much and worried about how their personal status might get harmed; they say something in the game, someone recorded that conversation posts it on their blog without any permission causing problem to a point that person had to leave the game because he/she couldn't continue anymore feeling like he/she got attacked... that he/she shouldn't of posted the conversation in open public in the first place. It's only a online game; if your status is so important you should watch what you say, and if you screwed up it's online so you always have 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... chance making new character to hide your identity and be smart enough you don't screw up again... period... end of story... Now if FFXIV was linked to Facebook with real info, then you're F'ed lol

But not too much Japanese use Facebook (yet) in the first place, they use Mixi more so that part's OK, doubt SE will link it to Mixi. And if they did link it to facebook you know the NA players will link their character LOL... It's fine they want to link it... just don't tell me what level you reached, or what trophy you got on my wall...

There is a lot I can tell with some investigating and some clever detective work. It's pretty brutal in the age of internet stalking. Unless you're actively conscious to not be easily tracked.

Kids these days are pretty beat up about this stuff much more then last generation.

I agree with Reinheart, though. Unless someone actually says their real name/information on the Lodestone blog or something, you're not going to figure out who they are and where they live from something they said on this forum. You pretty much have to actively out yourself.

Facebook is way more dangerous than a video game.

My name is a killing word.
(Seriously: "Caerith" was a forbidden name when I signed up on the forums.)

Eorzea should be a world, not a lobby.
