The fact of the matter is that everyone starts out with mediocre gear and has to learn somehow, so if it was me, I wouldn't have a problem queueing with you to help you run through content for better gear. There are too many players displaying levels of impatience that are frankly too extreme and lacking in empathy. If you're a new tank, just let people know you're a new tank. If they drop, you'll know not to run with those people again if you come across them. If they're nice enough to stay, then great! Your other alternative would be to join an FC and get help from them, or to use your usual main class as a conduit for obtaining tomes to trade in for Paladin stuff.

When I hit 50 on Paladin, I didn't even bother doing much tanking and just ran CT over and over to gear up because of the large gear gap between me and other players. These days, though, with the loot limit removed from CT, it shouldn't take very long to get full i80 armour, and you can use the tomes towards accessories.

Weapon and shield can easily be obtained from doing the weekly primal quest (assuming you can find a non-failure Titan group).

I leveled a tank alt to 50 and before I was geared I'd just let the dps tank and rush through how they wanted. They'd pull, I'd provoke, they'd take back hate and tank it just fine so I'd just work on the building hate on the next mob. In a way I saw this as a challenge to make me learn to tank better. Keep in mind many have done these dungeons a million times and don't want to worry about emnity when the mobs do no damage anyway. If I am healing or dps I don't care if I pull hate. I'm high enough item level that having a tank is almost unnecessary. In short, don't worry about it. Do what you can to keep hate but the dps are going to melt what's coming after them and that's the whole point of their class.

I wouldn't worry so much about you losing hate. If they have enough DPS to steal hate from you, they should have enough VIT and DEF to take hits. If they can't take a hit, then they better keep an eye on that hate bar. As for better gear, I'd just do CT runs. Sure, CT can be hell, but the reward is worth it, most of the time.

This post actually makes sense. The ilvl for the new and even last patches dungeons are too low, and this is the result. When the high geared players have no high level dungeons to do, then they share with the lower geared people without a sync. Its different if you're doing a low level dungeon where everything is synced. Id prefer that they not sync the new dungeons, but to just raise the ilvl requirement for the new dungeons.

I had a tank at brayflox hm who lost his healer, then a dps, then got bitched at for not tanking properly by another dps. It was his first time in the dungeon and frankly as his healer, he did fairly well. I just hope that he didn't get traumatized by the experience.
I didn't struggle at healing him at all, so I feel people came in expecting a very fast or a speed run and he was too low ilvl for that. Its duty finder, people come in to learn and others should be patient and not expect awesome runs 100% of time.
I'd say try your best, and upgarde your gear as often as you could. If people won't understand leave their party. You are the tank and its their loss if you left

I try to defend them, but at times they leave too fast. I never had to vote kick ever, but I wouldn't mind doing it for a person who is being mean to someone who is genuinely trying to learn.

The dps was probably hoping for speed run with big pulls, which is not something should be expected of in DF

"shouldn't take very long" have had PLD at 50 for a few weeks and done a few dozen CT runs since...teh result? Head, Gloves and Belt, damn im unlucky as ive not even SEEN a boots legs or body piece yet. Rate things are going i will end up with i90 myth sets for all 3 of my 50s before getting the full set of PLD gear :/
I DO see where your coming from though as CT was my frist stop after completeing the story, at FC's suggestion and after a while got most of the Crimson set

A Lv sync for the HM dungeons sounds like a good idea to me since some challenge would be kept and not completely seperate players with large differences in iLv
