Guy gamers who play girl characters

I'm not a feminist, but I have been on the receiving end of some really disturbing advances. Nothing like that on FFXIV or FFXI, but on Aion and TERA multiple times.

Sorry for your poor choice of games in the past, then.

However, you're probably never going to meet a guy that says he won't play male characters because women aggressively flirt with him.

And I don't fear tigers attacking me in my home, which is not in Africa or Asia, btw, either. Your point?

Congratulations on never receiving unwanted advances, but I assure you that it is a problem sometimes. Just because it never happens to you doesn't mean it never happens.

But not in this game, so people bringing up "I play male because people hit on me" in a game where they don't, are missing the point.

You know what I do?

I REFUSE to DF or PF unless very very needed. And I will ditch trolls the first chance I get (if they prove to be trolls, not just irritated normal people).

I NEVER play shooters, FPS or TPS.

I avoid PVP like the plague. That's where trolls breed. It's under a bridge, if you prefer.

I play almost solely with my FC.

And yet I don't hide in my mansion. Most of the time I'm gathering, doing my dailies, crafting, what have you, accessible to all. No Hitting On Me, from anyone. People don't fucking care about random unknown people they don't even interact with.

Yep, hostility and ad hominem really strengthens your arguments. First you call me a feminist, then you criticize my choice of games. Neither of these has anything to do with the point I was trying to make. Some girls are afraid to play girl characters because they've received a lot of unwanted advances (not JUST flirtation, by the way) on other games. I never meant that ALL girls have had that experience. Whether or not it has happened to you means absolutely nothing.

Just because YOU haven't run into it in this game doesn't mean no one has and that it never happens. And how would someone come to this game from another game and KNOW they won't have an experience they've had on other games?

FFXIV has no community outside of forums, so interaction with random people is pretty minimal. Especially when you avoid DF/PF etc. Some people don't have that option.

And once again, good for you. I don't hide from the game either. I'm also still playing a female character despite aforementioned problems I've run into on other games. If someone else chooses to play a male character because they want to play the game free of any of that potential drama, more power to him/her. I don't know why you're getting your panties in a wad over this and attacking me when other people on this same thread have said they play males chars to avoid male advances. Your personal experience with it is completely irrelevant to their experiences.
