Guy gamers who play girl characters

Made a man cat and got bored with him in beta. Then I was messing around on the character creation and made a character for each race and gender. All I can say is when I made a female highlander she turned out to be awesome looking. I had too much fun playing with her... <_< >_> DON'T JUDGE ME! !!! >_<

Because men have an extremely disappointing selection of customization options.

every time i try to make a male character in an mmorpg, it's kind of like walking into a clothing store as a dude. the selection that women have to choose from is so much more appealing and varied.

I\\\\\\'ve met a few on FFXIV, and I\\\\\\'m so curious...Why play a girl character in game if you are a guy IRL? I guess the same question for girls who play guys. Not looking to troll, just genuinely wondering.

I guess because I view my character as a representation of myself, I play a guy in game because I am a guy IRL. So I\\\\\\'d like to understand the reasons why others would make a different choice.

Simple, because others don't view their character as a representation of themselves. I.E Playing Lightning in FF13.

In game avatar doesn't represent yourself at all but a character of your own design.

Why only limit yourself to one gender in game, why not play both?

I myself generally will have at least one character of each gender, for the purpose of armor differences. Granted not all armor looks different on each gender, but some times there are differences(not counting gender specific armor).

I'm gonna state being 'that one guy' who does actually do it to appeal to his feminine side a little bit, I'm a fairly 'balanced' individual in terms of sexual identification, sure I primary describe myself as a 'he' and respond to male pronouns, but I feel just as comfortable if someone calls me a she, it's almost flattering, in a way.

There's also the more typical reasons as well, I find the female body more visually appealing to watch for hours on end, prefer the sounds females make in battle, and it feels there's more variety in female options.
