Soldiery Tome shield worth it?

I have the myth ring. I have a ilvl 55 ring as my other. it's the lowest item I have.
someone told me it was best, at this point, to go for accessories first since i can gear up using CT. i have been sort of doing a mix of the two.
i was thinking of saving the chest for last as I can upgrade two of my other ilvl 60 pieces for roughly the same cost.
i'll get it all eventually. just trying to make the best plan.
so skip the shield and get the soldiery tanking ring?

Get the chest piece first. In fact, it's easier to just get the most expensive pieces first. Same way I did for DL, hasn't been a bad decision at all.

Personally i don't like the shield the Block ratio goes down so much compared to Relic :x
i preferred to get my Animus shield asap and then got lucky with T8 drop <3 High Allagan Shield

My first purchase was the shield. I don't regret it. I am not getting to T8 anytime soon and wanted a worthwhile and long lasting upgrade. Body is this week. Sucks having to plan out spending with 4 different jobs ; ; but ultimately my fault for loving them so much...

The block rate isn't that bad. On paper it looks silly, but in practice it ok. Plus it give more opportunity for your parry to activate, and bulwark is bananas!

i went ahead and got the ring last night. i might possibly save up and get the shield next. it will greatly depend on how close i am to the zodiac weapon when i get back enough soldiery tomes. still not a single atma drop, but i haven't had time to actively farm fates the past few days.

It's also upgradeable to 110 via SCoB drops whereas the animus is stuck at 100.

in terms of upgrading your gear, generally you want to upgrade the worst piece of gear first. Personally, (for PLD) Soldiery Feet, Hands, and Head are definitely all worse than coil drops (but hey, gotta get lucky with drops). The Body, The shield, and the ring are all great ideas (although the shield is debatable according to some). I would get the body first, as its a hefty 825 (2 weeks) soldiery tomes. get that out of the way and then can get the other 2 pieces weekly.

yes, bulwark with this shield is insane. Those pulls in brayflox HM are silly when all you see is (Blocked -38%) over and over and over again.

Noct gloves end up being better than HA gloves in a 520acc parry oriented build. Feet and head are hands down better than Noct though, and they actually both drop on T6 so are more widely available than other drops.

Here's what I have calculated as BiS while staying above 520 accuracy.

That'll stick you at 531 accuracy with popoto pancakes, which is 11 points over but that's just how the itemization lands. You can switch out the HA belt for Noct belt (512acc) for earlier turns, however it's probably a bad use of sand for your raid as a whole to upgrade Noct for encounters you'd have on farm by the time you hit BiS.

This all hinges on going for max parry, there's a thread out there arguing that dps stats might actually be better which I'd normally disagree with except that dps appears to be the biggest factor in T6-T8 so far. I'm still shooting for max parry, but every little bit of dps helps especially since Coil2 is still young and not many people are i100+ yet.
