Google translate. No idea if that's correct or not.

Because it's a fact. Just an FYI, I checked multiple links before I posted that, but posted that link because it was more organized data and easier to read. Also, by simple world knowledge will give you similar result: China has 1.3 billion+ people, the highest population country in the world currently. As I mentioned in my post, Chinese has same written language all across, despite different spoken language mother tongue, that itself is over triple amount of people in all of Latin America, which don't even all speak Spanish. It's logic that Chinese is the most used language in the world.

Wikipedia isn't that bad as long as you cross reference, check site notes and apply logic.

There are laws that have nothing to do with the number of gamers. Germany and France have laws where games must be translated into their respective languages in order to be released on Europe (not just aforementioned countries).

Not the best way to demand anything if you insult other country, even though you're most likely kidding...

Where does this vague data come from? Rhetoric question, you know...
On the other hand, is SE who decide if that percentage is enough for them to translate the game into Spanish (with all that involves that translation: PR, localization, support (phone, online, in-game), community team, etc.).

PS. This is coming from a native Spanish speaker and I support translation even though I would keep playing the English version.

But, yes, well, people always have confussions with that... Basically there's the "Most extended languages" and the "Most spoken languages"... Where chinese wins because they are 1.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000

PS: I know the number I put there is exaggerated, they are probably much more, it was just for putting an example >_<
    I actually know you're joking

I don't think that has any bearing on things, mainly due to the fact that those statistics count people who speak multiple languages, and not just people of a nation that primarily speaks that language.

When "localizing" a game in any language, it's most likely counted by the potential market size according to country. Asian countries will always hold large priority of course. Spanish speaking nations, mainly mexico and south american nations(not counting those that speak Portuguese), gravitate more towards other game types. This isn't to say that any game of any type can't be popular in those nations, but you're going to be extremely hard pressed to beat out league of legends, and fighting games, generally games centered around player vs player aspects in those nations. However if square can refine the PvP aspects of 14, I'm sure that they can draw those players in much better.

Considering how most triple-A MMOs released recently have not been localized into Spanish (at least not at launch) I think it's safe to say that these companies have done their research and have determined that it is not (from a business standpoint) worth it to do a full Spanish language localization (or at least, that it is more cost effective to localize for other languages first). RIFT, SWTOR, FFXIV, ESO, and Wildstar have all been EN/DE/FR. If there was really this massive segment of Spanish players dying to play these MMOs, more of them would be doing Spanish localizations.

I've always found it strange that SE doesn't support such a widely spoken language. I don't speak a lick of (appropriate) Spanish, but you have my support, this game would see a huge influx of players!

    correct me if im wrong but im sure that if u want to sell games on FR / DE u need to translate the game or the country wont let u sell it , i heard that sometime ago dunno if its true ^^;

WoW was translated to spanish in the 3th expansion (woltk?) aion has been translated to spanish last summer ? lol , just random examples of post release translation :P

FFXI had an awesome spaniard community ( ragnarok mainly) , same goes for FFXIV 1.0 , and now plenty of spanish players on moogle/ragna

all the FF in psx/ps2/ps3 have been in spanish (but FFVI grrrr) , the FFVI for android / iphone is in spanish however.

You cannot compare single player RPGs, to MMORPGs. Single player RPGs attract a wider variety of players then MMORPGs do, this is a fact. I know plenty of people that love to play FF games, but wont play the MMO versions because they're an MMO. The main reason being the fact that they don't have to spend anymore time on the game then they feel comfortable with in order to achieve their goals. Single player RPGs are much friendlier and easier on the casual player who only plays for a bit, rather then staying on all day grinding things out.

MMOs require more then a single player game. And if the market isn't large enough, it's not going to be a priority, or happen at all. Perhaps sometime down the road they'll do a Spanish voice over for the game, but right now, especially with how young the game, it's most likely not on their priority list.

That's one thing a lot you are forgetting, this game isn't a year old yet so getting worked up over it right now doesn't make sense. Just give it some time.
