The Tank Class is ridiculously under populated...

I think the problem with tanking and the lack of tanks in this game isn't the fact that tanks are hard to play but rather the fact that a lot of knowledge about game mechanics and other classes is required to truly excel at tanking.
Knowing the dungeon, knowing the abilities your healers have and how they supplement you as a tank, knowing the cooldowns and abilities of your dps, the attacks your enemy does, etc. etc.
That often is very intimidating for newer players or people who decide to pick up tanking.
The impatience of the playerbase to cut new tanks some slack and help them get used to the necessary knowledge and information input doesn't exactly help the situation
