    For higher items that required higher crafts to be made, sure. For anything lower level though it was a loss to make everything if it wasn't a consumable. And even then it was generally a loss, because somebody higher up that could HQ more reliably would be able to make money from the HQs, where somebody lower wouldn't.

    I think what made FFXI have a better economy for some things wasn't the fact items couldn't bind, but that you couldn't level every single crafting profession on a single character all at the exact same time. You picked one, and that was it.

    Yes, it was possible during 1.0 to resell the gears. Because of it, the supply raised over the time while the demand didn't raise. Gear in the market wards lost value.
    To counter it, Yoshida brought the materia system in the game that destroy gear. Gear got destroyed to create materia and gear got destroyed if a overmeld failed. The supply decreased again and the demand raised because the people bought now also gear to create materia with them.

    I think the only way to remove the gear bond would be if a failed overmelding destroy the whole gear again instead of only the one materia.

    I can understand where some of this argument comes from. If you have a piece of gear you've invested hundreds of thousands of gil into melding it's going to suck having nothing to do with it but turn it into a single possibly sucky materia. This is why I'm hesitant to fully meld my gathering/crafting gear when the next update could add new meldable gear that I have to start all over with again and my old gear was a waste of money.

    What they need to do is change how converting gear works for stuff that is melded. The quality and number of materia on a converted piece should influence the grade of the materia gained or even have a chance to produce multiple materia.

    Gear binding doesn't really bother me being as how most of it that is tradeable is also convertible. But I do have to complain that gear equipped to retainers for ventures binds but doesn't build spirit bond at all. I wouldn't mind so much about the binding if atleast they could spirit bond it too some so we can get something out of it. As it is now we can only npc it or try to bond it ourselves for materia.

    As much as I wish you could trade gear in this game so I could give my lower level friends my old armour sets, I have to agree that including that feature would mess up the whole economy, so it's doubtful that will ever happen.

    OP, the word you were looking for is "immersion". You wrote someones' name right there.

    Anyway, I thought this was going to be about people wearing gray armour in dungeons, greatly weakening their tanking/healing/damage output all for the sake of making materia. Greed is part of immersion too.

    i have no problem with it. reasons it keeps the players whom like to rip ppl off . keeps the market boards neat where as one dose not have to cycle thru miilions of crap. helps prevent rmt ppl from trying to acure mass amont of gear to make gill to sell

    that is cause RMT ruined that for us, they kept selling stuff for insane prices the nightmare that was 2006 FFXI scorpion harness +1 20mil.

    I remember RMT just bombarding every inch of every NM but you know what it was fun to beat them on pulls and them getting so mad sending tells about how they were gonna hurt you if you didn't leave the spawn lol
