Yes...remove spiritbinding. Make crafters even more useless, shall we?
"why cant I BUY gear instead of EARN it?!?!"

Think what OP means was not spiritbonding, rather the gear bonding, a.k.a equip it and use it once then cannot sell the (used) gear anymore.
In some way, I do wish for no gear bonding. I kinda forgot if 1.0 allows ppl to sell used gears, think it could be resold iirc.
Not really sure the need for gear bonding, except ofc... the unnecessary money sink. When I play XI, I didn't really see problem with markets about used gears. I'm not a clever economist, but I think XI's market works just fine without gear bonding.

BTW, here's what spiritbonding mean for dummies: It's a process of turning gears/weapons into a materia.
Gear bonding >< Spirit bonding.
Got it? lol

The reason XIs market worked like this was because money was hard to come across to begin with
Although equipment does have a durability rating, all damage to it can be repaired, so equipment never breaks entirely. If players were allowed to use an item for as long as they were at the right level for it and then pass it on to another player who could do the same, then the same few items would continue to forever supply all characters on the server. There would be no purpose for any new equipment to enter the game, so there would be no purpose for crafting, no purpose for dungeon drops, etc. Basically, all rewards that the game offers would quickly become obsolete.
To avoid that problem, the game has a rule that once you use an item, nobody else can ever use it. That way, every new player who wants an item requires a new item to be either made or dropped. This ensures a continuous demand for new items, so it keeps the game's rewards useful.
This is the rule that the vast majority of MMOs use to solve this problem. The only other alternative is a rule where items cannot be continuously repaired, and eventually any item will break completely and can never again be used. That alternative is less popular because players get attached to gear that took a lot of effort to obtain or sometimes just because they finally got a piece they like the look of. It's generally better to let the player who earned it keep it as long as they like, but don't allow it to be traded than to allow trading but make it only last a short while.
XI had an actual economy, crafting classes that required an actual investment of time to level to a profitable stage, money that wasn't thrown at your face... etc...
This game can not support non-binding armor. It's too easy for anyone to level all their crafts to max and push out HQ gear as quickly as they get their hands on the materials. If you allowed people to buy something off the market, use it, and then turn around and toss it right back up you would end up with a market filled to the brim with stuff selling at rock bottom prices.
The only thing barely supporting the crafted/tradable gear economy right now is the fact that once an item is taken out of circulation it isn't going to be put back.
Hell if you got rid of bonding the vanity market would crash entirely as you would simply grab something, glamour it 5 seconds later and then toss it right back up on the board.
Most things already sell for little to nothing on the market board (some for less than a vendor will pay). Could you imagine how worthless everything would be if it didn't bind to you and you could resell it after? Literally everything crafted that you equip is removed from the economy, which means another eventually needs to be made.
For higher items that required higher crafts to be made, sure. For anything lower level though it was a loss to make everything if it wasn't a consumable. And even then it was generally a loss, because somebody higher up that could HQ more reliably would be able to make money from the HQs, where somebody lower wouldn't.
I think what made FFXI have a better economy for some things wasn't the fact items couldn't bind, but that you couldn't level every single crafting profession on a single character all at the exact same time. You picked one, and that was it.
Oh there is a point to crafters damn there isnt anyone i know that doesnt have 50 crafts
Ok then make it on legacy servers
