Perception is everything. You could say the same thing about the durability/repair system.

My name is a killing word.
(Seriously: "Caerith" was a forbidden name when I signed up on the forums.)
Eorzea should be a world, not a lobby.
dont need it wea already have in guild leves "guardian favor"
Im not saying its a bad idea. I think it's a more psychologically-friendly version of the current surplus system.
Im just saying that because it's an idea used in WoW, among other recent MMOs, that he will lap it right up.
This thread sums up everything that is wrong with MMO's today.
Ridiculous.
What's wrong with MMOs today? That the community is so hopelessly ignorant of the genre that they needed someone to explain the terms rested bonus for them?
To me, that's the problem. That's the problem right there!
FFXIV players don't even know what's out there! No wonder they are so happy with the total and utter drivel SE feeds them or, rather, leaves them salivating for.
The surplus system we have now (which is to be done away with) is kind of the same as what WoW has.
When Blizzard first introduced the system in late beta it was not worded as it is today.
Instead you had normal XP during what is now the rested xp period, and suffered a penalty outside of it. This naturally did not go down well with testers, and the system was taken offline, and basically re-introduced with a different wording.
It is all about giving it a positive spin, very few people enjoys being penalized while playing a game.
Give a mouse a cookie...
If any kind of "rested XP" concept makes it's way into 14 I really hope they add it in a way which holds true to the Final Fantasy style. Those of you who played 11, at least from 2005 and on, will remember the [Emperor Band], [Empress Band] and [Chariot Band].
Something along those lines, but with a new and inventive twist, would be very nice.
Well we have something -sort of- like it. Guardian's Aspect!
