Honestly most people in this game don't even care about established loot rules. Many times i've heard of even FC groups doing similar things. Nobody cares because they can random for things, or get into party finders and in general aren't held accountable for anything. This is the saddest thread i've seen yet. Each time my one remaining friend who plays asks me to come back I come to the forums and look at this and am reminded right away why i tell them no each time. This group of people are some of the most selfish and impatient people in any MMo I've ever met. Heaven forbid you help someone else or remember that that white mage is there even though they are primary archer because we needed them to switch so someone else could switch so we could keep group comp right. Or that we have someone who has a 50 and that they could use the item. Thanks again for giving me more ammunition to stay the hell away from this game and it's stupid greedy entitled people.

Did you mention before-hand that you were looking for certain drops? Did you form a group with loot rules spelled out that everyone agreed to? These are both things that you can already do and will likely resolve your issue.

Edit: As a side note, given the amount of gear that just falls to the floor, I imagine a lot of players just roll greed since they could turn what would otherwise be garbage in for seals. If nobody says anything, then how can I know they are interested in something.

Aren't you saying people are entitled to the drop just because they have a class at 50? Is that not kind of greedy that you are trying to block other players from having the same item?

I feel like, especially in duty finder, that everyone has a chance to get the same item no matter the level of the class it's for. You can mention that you want the item in party chat, but there is no gaurentee that you will get it. If you want better odds, don't run with strangers. Run with FC or ls mates. Establish a loot agreement before going in with your buddies. You are never entitled to anything just because you have the class at 50.

Personally I pass on healer gear because it is the last thing I plan on leveling, and I know there are plenty of chances to grab it in later runs. That doesn't change the fact that if I go in a duty finder and a healer item drops, i could loot on it if I wanted to, and no one can tell me I can't. I have as much of a right to loot on it as everyone else in that party. I just choose not to because at the moment I don't mind. I'm patient.

Honestly this entire thread is just someone butt hurt that they cant get an item for an alt class because other people want the item as well. Easy fix to that is either run on that lvl 50 class, or run with fc or ls mates with a loot agreement. Greedy is trying to lock others from a drop that should have equal opportunity.

P.s. I use "you" as a general term for anyone complaining about it. Not neccessarily you specifically. Felt I needed to make that clear.

Personally I'd rather see gear go to someone who can use it right away so I rarely Greed anything. That said, greed = greed and everyone in the party has the exact same right to roll on the loot. Your reasons for wanting it aren't better or more valid than anyone else's reasons for wanting it.

I don't care. In a way, they are more entitled to it. A level 50 who has the other job at 50 did put more time and effort into it. To dispute that is moot. It's like saying a raider is wrong for feeling they're more entitled to the new coil loot that drops because they put more time and effort in. For the most part I only ever got gear for characters I rolled on. In most cases I passed even on my secondary spec just because I knew people played them more than me since as a tank I'd get pulled into groups constantly to tank. Can i heal? No need tank. Can I DPS? Nope. Need tank. But since my friend told my that you spoke to me directly, I'll just put it this way before I shut down these forums again and don't come back. I personally never rolled on items I didn't need or didn't have a job that I was currently leveling up. I dunno. Maybe I'm just not greedy enough or expected the people in this game to be nicer than they were. But they weren't. Rolling on items with a level 1, when someone has a 50 and asked for it. Because we all know that your level 1 can use it. You might have the right to do it, but it's certain that the majority of the people in this game lack the class(And i don't mean a job or anything. I mean good old fashioned class) to be courteous or helpful. But then what should you expect of a game that is made for casuals with all these timesinks coming in to keep you guys in line. I mean they're gonna make everything obsolete within three months as long as they can and put of duty find for groups bigger than 8 for the raids and make it so that you have to group with people(Or banning people who post just how badly someone is doing. Or banning them because they can tell that the person is pulling less DPS than the less geared blm you had in a previous run). This game is a pathetic sham that took the crappiest parts of WoW and Tera and some story elements from FFXI that is surviving this long only off the FF name. And with a community like this, I can't really say I'll feel sorry when it eventually sees a drop in subscribers and bombs. Most of the people who play it deserve to lose everything they've gotten here. And honestly, I'm hoping SE just ends up with another bloody nose and the possibility of a bankruptcy looming as a reality of their future so they can pull their heads out of their collective behinds and actually make something revolutionary. Kinda like FF. Or Fire Emblem Awakening when it was announced to be possibly the last game in the series.

it's called "greed" for a reason. the name itself is begging for greedy people to click it. yeah it sucks when you need an item for the job you're running the dungeon/raid on and you lose out to someone who hasn't even touched the class. it also sucks when you're running something to greed items for an alt and you lose out to someone who hasn't touched the class. but "greed" is part of the game. just because you feel like your "greed" is superior or more justified to someone else's "greed" doesn't mean SE needs to change anything in the game.

And how would you know that someone don't plan it? Only because someone have the class at level 1 don't mean that he never plan to level this class someday.

This is how I got my motivation to level my WAR. I got an Allagan Axe before, and decided to level up a WAR.

They should just go back to personal loot pools and add non-gear items to them.

For instance; you clear BCoB and open the two chests. You get your own personal loot table & loot pool of two items; possible drops being Allagan Gold pieces, Rare crafting materials, or Gear & Accessories.

Higher RNG of course - but a guaranteed reward for clearing the content.

Or just... sack up and deal with the realities of a Need & Greed system.

Do you so fundamentally believe in the right of people to turn gear into seals without typing a few words like "Just say something if you need an item for an alt class" that you have to make these posts about how we are all bound by the loot window? These are the same posts I see every time someone makes a thread about loot and they seem just as farcical every time. Of course it's common courtesy to yield to people with greater need! "Oh well you can't possibly tell if someone actually is telling the truth, I technically need those seals, etc, etc" ... what nonsense!
You're arguing something that has nothing to do with lotting i90. You can't trade i90 for seals, or even i80 for that matter. The highest gear level you can turn in for GC seals right now is i70 and I see no hint of that changing any time soon.

Secondly, if you decide to pass because you think someone else needs the gear more, that's fine. Other people will choose to lot, and it's their right to whether you think they need it or not. And frankly, who are you to decide who is more "worthy" than anyone else on a greed lot? Greed, however you try to make it sound more noble or justified, is simply greed. You don't need it for the class you're on, but you want it, they don't need it for the class they're on, but they want it. Greed is greed is greed, no matter the reason for it.
