This smacks of FTP way to do things...no thank you.I don't want to "rent" anything thanks.
Last time I checked the Coeurl mount does not give players any advantage over another aside from the ability to look cool. If it were faster than regular mounts you can bet your boots I'd have a problem with it.I just don't see the problem with them adding options. It offers a very small advantage that does not effect others gameplay. Everyone plays in different ways, some people play to collect mounts/minions/etc. But I haven't heard any complaining of why can't everyone have a coerl mount?
Do you want them to just eliminate the option and nobody gets it?
With retainers you don't only get an extra retainer to collect items for you from ventures (free gil/loot - term free being used loosely here) but you also get an additional 20 slots on the market board as well as additional item storage.
As much as I'd love to agree with you, there's a major difference between a vanity mount and a retainer that actually provides players with additional items/gil, additional market space and additional storage. You're entitled to your opinion like everybody else but I really don't see a comparison between vanity mounts and retainers as a fair comparison since one gives you a slight advantage and the other does not.

Uh. This is the only game anywhere where I've seen something like this. Also, considering each item in your storage is just an item number in a database, the storage actually being used is minimal. Pretty much any other game that allows you to expand storage allows you to do it with either a 1-time real money payment (for the F2P or hybrid games) or a one-time in-game monetary payment.
I seriously have no idea who started the 'you're paying for the hardware to hold your inventory!' I promise you're not using up $4 of server space per month for your two extra retainers.
But.. but..
That will take away the 'pay to win' advantage I have over other players!
STRONGLY AGAINST.
PS3 limitations
Honestly $2 a month isn't going to break the bank. After going through both my retainers last night I very well may buy a 3rd for my next billing cycle just for more storage and another person to run ventures with.
Not exactly true or correct - given the fact that you can't change the retainer's class without reseting it's gained level means that you need exactly four (what a surprise!!) retainers to cover all the options retainer ventures offers - 1 DoW or DoM (they all produce the same items / results from hunting ventures) and one for each DoL (Miner, Botanist and Fisher). So please stop using the argument that by not having other 2 retainers you're not missing anything or are not at dissadvantage. Once you manage to level all 4 retainers to max level any time you need to craft anything (leaving star recepies aside for now) it literarly takes you max one or two hours even if you don't have all the ingrediences needed in "stock" - just send out your retainer to grab what you need for the craft and do some other (more enjoyable) content in the meantime. If that's not a (fairly significant) advantage over the players with only 2 retainers I don't what else would be ... Or just keep sending them on quick ventures - double the amount of rare items obtained - sell them on MB - still no advantage??
You're clearly mising the point here - it's not about $2 - it's about the principle and the precedens this will set up. Once SE start charging for "services-with-almost-no-advantages" when and where it will stop?? Once they'll see we're willing to part with our money for somenthing relativelly minor like this what stops them from starting milking us for other "minor" service giving "slight" edge to players willing to pay? Do you really want this game to turn into "pay to win" one?? I for sure don't!
